336,497. Siemens - Schuckertwerke Akt.-Ges. Dec. 21, 1928, [Convention date]. Conductors; windings.- Conductors especially for single-layer windings in commutating machines are made with their end portions, which lie outside the core slots, wider and shallower than their central portions which lie in the slots. An example is shown respectively in elevation and plan in Figs. 1 and 2, the portion a being that which is inserted in the slot. The broadened shallow end parts b may, alternatively, be formed on opposite sides of the bar, as shown in elevation in Fig. 3. The bars may be formed by rolling or pressing or by twisting the ends of a strip. Fig. 7 shows an armature with two separate symmetrical windings I, II made of bars as described above and connected to two commutators.
