Description

2:;2 4: -1 CS CES7 MMTIPLE YEAR ENTRY DIARY The present invention relates
to a multiple year entry diary in which a writer's records of past several years can be accommodated so as to observe the records of the same month and day in the past several years substantially at one time in the same page of the diary.
In a solar calendar. the four seasons are annually repeated, and there are many regular yearly functions or chief events, etc., which are annually repeated. Accordingly, it Is very useful and convenient to observe personal written records or experiences of the same date for the past several years in the same is page of the same diary at one time. To thisend, a multiple year diary is used.
There is a known multiple year diary in which every page thereof has a writing space which is split into several writing sections (diary sections) corresponding to the number of years, so that a writer can write his or her records of the same date (month and day) for several years in the same page and can observe the written records for the several years on the same page at one time. However, in this type of multiple year diary, in view of a reasonable size of the diary, there are normally three or four writing sections (diary sections) on one page. Accordingly, it is necessary to renew a diary every three or four years. In other words, for example, in the case of a three year diary, a new diary must be used for every three years, that is, the record of the third year and the record of the fourth year cannot be written in the same diary, and accordingly, a writer cannot observe the record of a certain date of the third year and the record of the 9 same date of the fourth year at one time in the same diary.
Namely, there is a tion of the diary records of 5 every predetermined x years.
discontinuity in observatwo consecutive years for The primary object of the present invention is to eliminate the drawback of the discontinuity mentioned above. Namely, the present invention is aimed at the provision of a multiple year entry diary in which diary records of the same date (month and day) of any consecutive several years can be accommodated on the same page and the records of the same date of the past consecutive several years can be very easily and quickly observed substantially at one time on the same page.
The inventor of the present invention has conceived a separation of the diary sections (writing sections) f rom the book body, unlike the prior art in which the writing sections are directly and integrally provided on the book body. Namely, according to the basic concept of the present invention, the writing sections which are provided on separate cards are separably accommodated in the book body. The above-mentioned card is referred to hereinafter as a "diary card".
To achieve the object mentioned above, according to the present invention, there is provided a multiple year entry diary comprising, in combination, a book body having a predetermined number of pages, each page having a transparent pocket with an upper open end, and a predetermined number of diary cards, each having at least a date indication which indicates a predetermined calendar date and a record blank in which a writer's record is to be written, so that the diary cards of the same month and day for a predetermined number of years can be exchangeably accommodated in the same transparent pocket.
With this arrangement, after a writer writes a 1 p 1 0 record of a date in a diary card for that date, the diary card can be inserted in the transparent pocket of that date (page) to be put on the diary cards of the same date of the past several years which have been superimposed in that transparent pocket. The unnecessary oldest diary cards or older diary cards can be removed from the associated transparent pockets when or before the transparent pockets are full of diary cards. Thus, a single diary book can be used substantially forever. Namely, the diary cards of the same date of the past several years can be always renewably accommodated in the same transparent pocket. The diary card of latest year (one year before), i.e., the uppermost diary card in thetransparent pocket can be observed through the transparent pocket at a glance.
The diary cards may be daily cards, each being for a one-day record, or weekly cards, each being for a seven day weekly record.
Preferably, the diary cards are superimposed in the associated transparent pockets in such a way that the uppermost card has the latest date indication, so that the latest diary cards in the respective pockets can be observed through the transparent pockets.
It is possible to classify the diary cards into two groups, so that the diary cards of odd years are accommodated in one of the left and right pages and the diary cards of even years are accommodated in the other page.
Preferably, the diary cards of odd years have a color different from the diary cards of even years.
Note that the "diary card" referred to in the specification means a separate card which has a predetermined number of writing sections for a predetermined number of days. For example, when the diary card has one writing section for one day, it is a daily card. Similarly, when the daily card has seven writing sections for one week, it is a weekly card.
0 Therefore, in the case of weekly cardst the "same date" means a same week. Namely, the weekly cards of the same week of the same month for ieveral years are accommodated in the same pocket of the same page.
The invention will be described below in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a schematic perspective view of a multiple year entry diary, shown in an open position, 10 according to the present invention; Fig. 2 is a schematic perspective view of a multiple year entry diary according to the present invention, for explaining its use; Fig. 3 is a partially cut-away schematic perspective view of a multiple year entry diary according to the present invention, for explaining its use; Fig. 4 is a schematic front elevational view of a main part of a multiple year entry diary according 20 to another embodiment of the present invention; Fig. 5 is a front elevational view of a diary card in the form of a weekly card, according to the present invention; Figs. 6A, 6B and 6C are schematic views showing front and back faces of diary cards having different date indications, according to the present invention; and, Fig. 7 is a schematic perspective view of a known multiple year diary.
J1 For a better understanding of the invention, reference will be first made below to Fig. 7 which shows.a known multiple year diary.
In a three year diary shown in Fig. 7, each page of the diary has three writing sections (diary sections) 3, so that the records of the same month and day (e.g., June 1) for three years (e.g., 1988, 1989, and 1990) can a 0 be written in the respective writing sections 3 of the same page. However, the diary must be renewed every three years. In other words, a new Lary must be used for every three years, as mentioned before. Accordingly, a writer cannot observe the record of a certain date, e.g., June 1 of 1990, and the record of June I of 1991 in the same diary.
To solve the problem, according to the present invention, as shown in Fig. 1, a multiple year entry diary A is essentially comprised of a book body B which has a predetermined number of 366 pages 13 (or leaves, but each usually having two pages defined on front and back faces thereof) because of leap year, and a predetermined number of diary cards C, e.g., daily cards, each having at least a date indication 11 indicating a calendar date (year, month and day) and a record blank (writing section) 12 for one day. In the case of daily cards, at least 365 (or 366 for leap year) cards C covering all days of one year (12 months) are included in one yearly set. Each page 13 of the book body B has a transparent pocket 15 with a closed bottom 16 and an upper open end 14, through which the associated diary cards C can be inserted and removed.
The transparent pockets 15 are made of for example polyethylene film, adhered to the respective pages 13 of the book body B. The daily cards C have different calendar dates 11 of one year. It is Possible to include several yearly sets of daily cards, each set consisting of daily cards for one year, or otherwise, upon exhaustion of the daily cards of the first year, an additional set (or additional sets) of daily cards for the second (and the subsequent year or years) is (or are) separately prepared.
At the end of the first year, one diary card C in which the writer's experiences are recorded is accommodated in each transparent pocket 15. When the second year starts, the daily cards C of the second year (which will be referred to as C 2 to differentiate it from the daily cards C of the first year which is shown by C 1 in Fig. 2) are accommodated in the transparent pockets 15 of the same dates as those of the daily cards of the first year. Namely, for example, the daily card C 2 of June 1, 1990 (second year). is additionally inserted in the transparent pocket 15 to be put on-the daily card C 1 of the daily card of June, 1989, which has already been inserted in the transparent pocket 15.
The same is repeated for the third year and years subsequent thereto, as shown in Fig. 3. Namely, the daily card C n of June 1, 199N year is inserted in the transparent pocket 15 through the upper open end 14 thereof to be put on the daily card C n-1 0 f the same date of 199N_1 year which is in turn put on the daily card C n-2 of the same date of 199N_ 2 year. Generally speaking, the observation of the daily cards.C for three or four years at one time is considered sufficient. Accordingly, the unnecessary daily cards of the old year or years are successively removed from the transparent pockets 15. If necessary, the removed old cards can be stored in an appropriate storage box (not shown) or the like. It should be appreciated that the uppermost daily cards C in the respective pockets 15, i.e., the latest daily cards can be observed through the transparent pockets, as ca n be seen from Fig. 3.
It is possible to classify the daily cards (diary cards) C into two groups of odd years and even years, as shown in Fig. 4. Namely, in an alternative arrangement shown in Fig. 4, the left pages 13a of the book body B are for odd years and the right pages 13b for even years. respectively, and vice versa. The diary cards Ca having the date indication lla of the odd years are accommodated in the transparent pockets 15a on the left pages 13a, and the diary cards Cb having the date indication 11b of the even years are accommodated in the transparent pockets 15b on the right pages 13b, of the 1 1 0 multiple year entry diary A,, respectively. In this alternative, it is possible to observe the two cards of the same date of the two consecutive odd and even years at one time.
Also in this alternative, it is preferable to color the cards Ca of the odd years and the cards Cb of the even years with different colors for an easy distinction of the two groups of cards. One of the groups of cards may be non-colored.
Alternatively, as shown in Figs. 6A through 6C, it is also possible to provide date indications 11 and diary sections (writing sections) 12 (Fig. 1) on both the front and back faces of each card C, so that the diary cards C of the same date in every two years (Fig. 6A) or in the two consecutive odd or even years (Figs. 6B and 6C) can be accommodated in the same transparent pocket.
Fig. 5 shows an example of a diary card C which is in the form of a weekly card which has seven consecutive date indications 11 and seven diary sections 12. The weekly cards C of the same week of the same month for several years are accommodated in the same pocket of the same page. The number of the diary cards included in one yearly set is 53 in this case.
As can be understood from the foregoing, according to the present invention, the diary cards of the same date of the past several years can be always continuously and renewably accommodated in the same transparent pocket of the same page, and accordingly, the records of the diary cards of interest can be easily and quickly observed substantially at one time.
