Abstract

Medicines, administering; syringes. - Apparatus for administering medicine to animals through the throat or rectum has a piston J reciprocating in a cylinder A which is supplied with liquid from a cup C through the opening a<1>. The cover B of the cup is held by the bolt E and nut D and has a tapered hole closed by a plug G. The cylinder A communicates with a tube K terminating in a nozzle k<1> with a valve k<2>. A spring R withdraws the piston rod M until the collar T engages the sleeve or distance-piece S. The liquid flows through the opening a<1> into the cylinder and through the perforations j in the piston. The button P is then pressed for the full extent of its stroke and the measured dose is delivered through the nozzle k<1>. The spring R then withdraws the piston and the apparatus is automatically re-charged. Various sizes of distance-pieces S and springs R may be used for varying the dose administered by the apparatus. A handle H is attached and has a recess h' for holding spare parts. The nozzle shown in Fig. 3 is used for spraying liquid into the ear of an animal.
