Abstract

223,512. Imray, O. Y., (International Motor Co.). May 15, 1924. India-rubber and like springs; resilient shackle.-A connection between the spring b and the frame of a motor vehicle comprises a block c of yielding non-metallic material, such as indiarubber, into which the end of the spring b extends and resilient reinforcing members moulded within the block at predetermined points to resist the stresses imposed on the non-metallic material. The block c is held in compression within a housing secured to the vehicle frame, and as shown in Fig. 2, is provided with a strong metallic coiled spring d at the part where the load is transmitted to the spring band with lighter coiled springs d<1>, d<2> at other parts. Bent flat springs D<1>, Fig. 4, may be used instead of the coiled springs and may be formed in one piece, as shown, or in three separate pieces. A metal seat b for the block may be carried by the spring b.
