Description

1 H 1 N Q E 2
The following invention, as is expressed in the title of the present specification, consists of an improved hinae, which is used mainlv to effect the connection of the cover of cooker plates to the structure itself.
The improved hinge which is proposed in the present invention has the purpose of obtaining a compensated cover in such a wav that the two Dieces of the hinge have a cylindric section prolonged from one of its sides to approximately half of its lenath. The inner bases that are backed together have some corresponding segmental paths according to different angles.
Upon the seamental paths beina adjustable by permanent friction, it is achieved that the fall of the cover of the cooker plate is centle and uniform without knocking sharply upon it. Likewise in its "open" pos-,--on with an approximate 90 decree angle it has a fastening pcs-ition in order to avoid its involuntary drop and in its bottom part, approximately at decrees, it drops totally c.ompensated avoiding that it rest on one end before the other, in other words, in an uncomcensated manner on the cooker plate(hol:,).
Those cooker plates that are provided with a cover hinged to their structure have hinges which connect in the normal way. Thus, in order for the user to close the same he must move the cover from its "open" position to its "closed" position by hand, covering the burners and the grill.
Hence, upon the hinges connecting the cover to the structure of the cooker plate in the conventional manner, the cover can fall involuntarily from its "open" position until it knocks acainst the cooker plate and remains in its closed position. The involuntary drop can cause wear and tear c--5' the upon fallina freelv on the structure of the cooker else it can cause an accident if the burners are on apparatus plate, or 3 - and sometnina Is beIng cooked and can spill over.
In this way, due to an external cause, such as a draft, the cover can fall involuntar-ilv and freelvtncn the cooker plate, causing an accident.
The hinge object of the invention is made up of two bodies, one of which is fastened to the structure of the cooker plate, and the other to the cover, in such a way that both are formed by a cylindric section prolonged from one of the sides c.." each piece to approximately half of the total length thereof. The inner base is formed by a series of segmental paths according to different inclination angles and both inner bases remain backed to each other.
The c..,lindr-c bodles or sections of both pieces forming the hinge are provided with a central axial hole in which the corresDondinc screw and the elements necessarv to effect the connectina cf: both bodies in an adjustable manner so that the friction exerted between both backed surfaces can be adjustable are lodaed.
The hinae piece that is fastened to the structure of the cocker plate, by its rear part is provided with an opening for its corresiDondence with the aeration holes of the cooker plate and likewise, it is provided with a pair of screws interlocked to it, inserted durIng the manufacturing process, so hat it is fastened by the corresponding binding nuts.
The hinge piece that is fastened to the cover of the cooker plate is provided with a pair of threaded blind holes, in relation to the backing surface to the cover so that the respective screws for the fastening thereof are lodged in them.
In the inner surface of the cover in correspondence with the positioning of the hinge there is a strip to enhance the distribution of forces all along it.and to avoid a concentration of forces on the binding part of the securing screws which could cause deformations in the cover.
In order to complement the description which is acn-, to
4 be made hereinafter and for the purpose of providing a better understanding of its features, the present specification is accompanied by a set of drawings in whose figures the most significant details of the invention are represented.
Figure 1- shows an elevational view of the piece forming the hinge which is fastened to the cover of the cooker plate. one can see the shorter cvlindric bodv with its inner base provided with the segmental paths and with an axial center hole for the passing of the connecting screw c.' the two pieces forming the hinge together.
Ficure 2 It shows an elevational view of the piece forming the hinge that is fastened to the structure czE the cooker plate. One can see the opening coinciding with the aeration grooves, as well as the shorter cylindric body wIth its inner base provided with the segmental paths and with an axial center hole for the passing of the connecting screw of the two pieces forming the hinge togetl,.-er and of the elements necessarv to make the adjustment, pressure and friction c-." the hinge possible.
Ficure 3 shows a side elevational view of the piece forming the hinge which is fastened to the cover in which one observes the seamental paths of the inner base of the cylindric bodv and its axial center throuch hole, as well as the threaded blind hole situated in the bodv that is backed to the cover for the fastening to it by means of the corresponding screws.
Fiaure 4 shows a sectional view, according to axis I-I c.' the piece forming the hinge that is fastened to the structure of the cooker plate. One can see the ooening coinciding with the aeration groove, as well as the threaded stud interlocked to it, in order to effect the fastening to the structure of the cooker Dlate.
Fiaure 5. It shows a side elevational view of the connection cf' the two bodies formina the hinge together, as well as to the structure of the cooker plate and to the cover thereof.
"i In view of the cited ficures, and in accordance with the numberina used, we can see how the hinge 1 is formed by the connection of pieces 2 and 3, which will be fastened respectively to the cover 4 and to the structure 5 of the cooker plate. Pieces 2 and 3 forming the hinge 1 are formed by a body 6 and 7 for their backing to the cover and to the structure of the cooker plate, and of a body 8 and 9, respectively, of a shorter cylindric shape, whose inner bases are provided with some segmental paths 10 corresponding to each other.
The cylindric body 8 of piece 2 has an axial center hole that corresponds with a hole 12 of the cylindric body 9 of the other piece 3 formina the hinae 1.
Piece 2 has a nalr of threaded blind holes 13 located in relation to the surface that is backed to the cover 4 for its fastening to it, by means of the correspondIng screws, while r-iece 3 has a pair of threaded studs 14 interlocked z: it for fastening by means of the corresponding nuts, to the structure of the cooker plate 5. Likewise, piece 3 which is fastened to the structure of the cooker plate 5 has an opening 15 which corresponds with the 'aeration groove 16.
Piece 2 is fastened to the cover 4 by means of screws 17 with the insertion between their head 19 and the cover itself of a strip 18 which favors the distribution of forces in relation to its entire surface, without there being concentrations of forces on the cover in the fastening points of the screws 17 which could end up deforming the cover.
Thus, once pieces 2 and 3 are fastened to the cover 4 and to the structure of the cooker plate 5, respectively, with the screw introduced in the axial holes 11 and 12 of the cvlindric bodies 8 and 9, the segmental paths 10 of both cited bodies havina remained backed, the connecting screw of both pieces will be adjusted so that with the drop cf cover 4 it closes in a gentle ccntincus manner.
- 6 In thIs way, the friction between both backed segmental paths 10 can be adjusted by the connecting screw of both pieces, depending on the weight of' the cover 4 so that the same always closes in a centle continuous manner.
In the "orDen" position, the cover 4 has a fastening point on 90 to 92 degrees, which prevents its involuntary drop. The user must move the same by hand so that once said point has been surpassed it can close freely.
Likewise, in-the pc-int close to the closure of the cover, approximately at 15 decrees, a compensation of the cover is produced in such a way that the support is done simultaneously by both sides.
With the use of the described hinge 1, accidents caused bv the free fall of covers of cooker plates are avoided.
1 - 7 L A I m S 1--- IMPROVED HINGE of the type of the ones that are formed by the connection of two pieces together, used mainly in covers c.." cooker plates in such a way that one of the pieces is fastened to the lowerable cover and the other to the fixed structure of the cooker plate, essentially characterized because both pieces 2 and 3 forming the hinge 1 consist of a cylindric body 8 and 9, respectively, shorter than the bodv 6 and 7 that is backed for connection to the cover 4 and to the cooker plate 5, having an axial center through hole 11 and 12 for the insertion of the connecting screw cif both pieces, and in whose inner based backed to each other there are some segmental paths 10, according to different ancles. It is provided that piece 2 which is fastened to the cover 4 has a pair of threaded blind holes 13 in relation to the backing surface thereof for fastening by means of the corresponding screws 17 with the insertion between them and cover 4 of a strip 19 to effect a uniform distribution of forces, with the characteristic that piece 3 which is backed to the structure of the cooker plate 5 has an opening 15 coinciding with the aeration h oles, and in the manufacturing process, a pair of threaded s'uds 14 have been inserted in it.for connection thereof to the structure of the cooker plate.
