222,637. Gasper, L. Aug. 27, 1923. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Grates.-A water-cooled furnace grate comprises one or more hollow sections, Fig. 1, each section being a single casting and consisting of two headers 1 connected by hollow bars 2 which may be of any section but are of such form longitudinally that the undersurface of the grate is either concave or convex. The grate is provided with suitable holes 4 for connecting to a boiler or other water container and also with a cleaning opening normally closed by a nut. The upper walls of the headers 1 and bars 2 are made thicker than the other walls and the solid cross-rib 3 is formed with holes to permit circulation of the water. The grate may be supported by a bracket at each corner.
