Abstract

221,920. White, A. E., (Hardinge Bros., Inc.). July 25,1923. Rotating valves on seats; piston valves. - A valve suitable for controlling a very small flow of heavy fuel oil or other liquid containing sediment, comprises a tubular seating member 7 secured in the body 5 by a screwed sleeve 8, and adapted to receive the lower end of the valve member 10. This member is recessed and provided with a lateral opening 49, which allows the fluid to pass over the bevelled edge 50 of the member 7, into the discharge pipe 53. To prevent obstruction of the passage 49 by dirt, the member 10 is continuously rotated by worm gearing 15 without affecting its longitudinal adjustment. Other details of the apparatus are described in Specification 223,646.
