Abstract
221,846. Macaura, G. J. May 23, 1923. Make-and-break switches, mechanical; timing-devices.- In a hand actuated vibratory massage appliance combined with a magneto - electric generator the end of the spindle of the rotor is reduced a,t 17<c> and carries an elliptical member 25, Fig. 7<a>, making intermittent contact with an annular member 26<b> adjustably mounted within a recess in a vulcanite disc 26, Fig. 1, mounted on the casing of the apparatus. In order that short current impulses may be obtained when required the circuit comprises also an arm 33 rotatably mounted on a pin carried by the vulcanite disc 26 so that it may be adjusted to make intermittent contact with a pin 32 carried by a continuously rotating vulcanite disc 30 and in electrical communication with the member 26b, or alternatively may be adjusted to make contact with a pin 33<b> in permanent connection with the annular member 26b so that only the contact maker 25 is in action. The electrodes to be applied to the patient are connected respectively to a terminal 37, Fig. 7<a>, and to the spindle 17<c>, which may be insulated and provided with a brush connected to a terminal or may communicate through the frame of the machine with an electrode on the applicator of the vibratory mechanism.
