Description

2218362 GRINDING TABLE FOR HEAVY-DUTY INTERNAL CIRCULAR GRINDING MACHINES
This invention relates to a grinding table for heavy-duty internal circular grinding machines.
Grinding tables even of internal circular grinding machines are in general relatively long structures. firstly in order to achieve a good guiding ratio. and -10 secondly in order to protect the guide from soiling.
is In recent years, particularly with heavy-duty machines, for machining short, rotationally symmetrical components, there has been a change-over to shorter grinding tables with pretensioned anti-friction guides.
If these grinding tables are to be able to take optional heavy-duty electric grinding spindles or belt-driven heavy-duty spindles with their corresponding drives, they must have a relatively wide and level mounting surface. But the requirement for short, wide grinding tables can be fulfilled only to a limited extent with the known straight-line guide technology. Another disadvantage of the pretensioned anti-friction guides common hitherto on long as well as 1, short grinding tables is deformation of the grinding table mounting surface by the pretensioning forces during assembly. According to circumstances,, this requires regrinding of the mounting surfaces in the assembled position.
It is an object of the invention to provide a grinding table with a short, wide mounting surface.
According to the invention., there is provided a grinding table for heavyduty grinding machines,, characterised in that on a grinding table adjacent to a pretensioned double-prism anti-friction narrow guide, with a guiding ratio of the length (L) of the needle cage to the distance (b) between the double-prism anti-friction narrow guides of 4:1, is disposed an anti-friction flat guide.
An advantage of the preferred grinding table of the invention is that deformation of the mounting surface by pretensioning forces during assembly is avoided.
1 3 In the preferred embodiment,, the anti-friction guide for the grinding table consists of a pretensioned anti-friction flat guide and a pretensioned. double-prism anti-friction narrow guide with a guiding ratio of the length L of its needle cage to the distance b between the double-prism anti-friction narrow guides which is 4:1. The double-prism anti-friction narrow guide is arranged close under the grinding spindle axis and thus affords very high rigidity as well as precision of grinding. The anti-friction flat guide picks up unilateral mass distribution to the double prism anti-friction narrow guide, which results from the wide grinding table for the grinding spindle and the adjacent drive motor for belt-driven grinding spindles. Arrangement of the drive for the grinding table in alignment with the overall centre of gravity assists the high guiding precision of the grinding table guide and its dynamic behaviour.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described, by way of example only, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a section through the grinding carriage guide of a grinding machine; Figure 2 is a plan view of a grinding machine, a belt-driven grinding spindle and adjacent drive motor; Figure 3 is a side view of the carriage unit of Figure 2; and Figure 4 is a front view of the machine of Figures 2 and 3 showing the arrangement of the centres of gravity of the various component parts of the grinding machine.
Referring to Figure 1, there is shown a grinding table 1 equipped with a double-prism shaped anti-friction narrow guide 2 and a pretensioned anti-friction flat guide 3 which are arranged parallel to the grinding spindle axis (not shown) adjacent to each other. The guiding ratio of the length L of needle cage 4 to the distance b between the prism guides of the double-prism anti-friction narrow guide 2 is 4:1 (see Figures 3 and 4). The double-prism anti-friction narrow guide 2 is arranged close to and beneath the axis of rotation 5 of the grinding spindle 6. It thus affords high rigidity and precision guiding.
3 1 P The anti-friction flat guide 3 picks up the unilateral mass distribution to the double-prism anti-friction narrow guide 2, which arises in the case of belt-driven grinding spindles if, adjacent to the grinding spindle 6, the drive motor 7 is likewise arranged parallel to the grinding axis.
From Figure 4, it can be seen that the grinding table 1 and the grinding table drive 8 are arranged in such a way that the overall mass centre of gravity SgeS of the grinding table 1 with its grinding spindle 6 and drive motor 7 are vertically aligned above and in the direction of guiding with the centre of the grinding table drive 8. This guiding system has the advantage over prior art evices of allowing extremely short, wide grinding tables with higher guiding precision and higher static and dynamic rigidity. Deformation of the grinding table mounting surface by the pretensioning forces therefore does not occur.
