3 Claims, 3 Drawing Figures the aforementioned combination tool machines which are equipped, for example for milling and planing, for planing and grinding, or also for planing, grinding and milling.
Tool machines are known in which the cross-slide is equipped with slideways with supports for different working units. All supports, for example, both the planing supports and the grinding supports, are in such machines arranged on the same slideways of the cross-slide. This required compromises in the construction of both supports and the different guide elements of the planing and grinding supports were in such machines located disadvantageously on the same slideway. The planing supports have slide guides which are required for receiving the high pulling forces, while the grinding supports, for the purpose of a precise feed in the micrometer zone, are guided by roller elements to reduce friction. The different guide path in the working zone of the individual supports results in a different wear of the slideways on the cross-slide which influences particularly the exactness and achievable surface quality during grinding. In addition, compromises usually had to be made in the design of the cross-slide in reference to its rigidity etc.
The basic purpose of the invention is to place the supports on the cross-slide of a combination tool machine, in particular a planing and grinding machine, in such a manner that the cross-slide and the supports can be constructed at an optimum with reference to structure and guide elements and the different wear on the guide elements cannot reciprocally negatively influence the guiding of the planing and grinding supports.
To attain this purpose, the invention provides that separate slideways are provided on the cross-slide for the planing supports and for the grinding supports.
By arranging separate slideways for the planing and grinding supports it is possible to choose their distance and to construct them in such a manner as is required by the optimum structure of the supports and as is desirable for the guiding and supporting of the supports. Particularly in using planing and grinding supports, the invention has considerable advantages because their requirements with reference to support and exactness of the guiding differ considerably from one another. A greater wear of the guide elements of the planing supports does not influence the guiding of the grinding supports.
One exemplary embodiment of the invention is illustrated in the drawings and will be described more in detail hereinafter.
in the drawings:
F IG. 1 is a front-elevational view of a section of a combination tool machine with the cross-slide according to the invention and planing and grinding supports arranged on said crossslide;
FIG. 2 is a cross-sectional view of the cross-slide with the grinding support lower slide; and
FIG. 3 is a cross section of the cross-slide with a planing support lower slide.
The combination tool machine illustrated in the drawings has two machine columns and a cross-slide 2 at which two planing supports and one grinding support are provided. A planing support consists, illustrated in a simplified manner, of a lower slide 3, an upper slide 4 and a tool receiver 5. A grinding support consists of a lower slide 6, an upper slide 7 and a grinding spindle 8.
FIG. 2 illustrates particularly the suspension of the grinding support 6 on the cross-slide 2. The lower slide 6 is guided on the cross-slide 2 over four slideways 9, 10a, ll, 12. The
slideway 9 is provided on the back of the guide bar 15 which is secured to the upper portion of the cross-slide 2. The remaining slideways 10a ll, 12 are provided on the guidebar 16 which is secured to the lower portion of the cross-slide 2 and are driven over the lateral slideways 9 and 11. Roller elements 13 are secured to the lower slide 6. The grinding support is supported in the vertical direction through a bridge 17 which is secured to the lower slide 6 by means of a strip 14 on the slideway 10a. The bar 18 which is fixedly connected to the lower slide 6 and the slideway l2 prevents a forward tipping of the grinding support.
The lateral movement of the grinding support is caused by the rotation drive spindle 19 which is in meshing engagement with the nut 20 secured to the lower slide 6.
FIG. 3 illustrates the suspension of a planing support 3 on the cross-slide 2. The lower slide 3 slides over the slideways 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 10b on the cross-slide 2. The slideways 2], 22, 23 are provided on a T-shaped carrier whereby a forward tipping of the lower slide 3 is prevented by the bar 26. The lower portion of the lower slide 3 is supported on the dovetailed slideway 24 and 25 which, together with the slideways 10a, 11 and 12 for the grinding support, is provided on the common guide bar 16. The slideways 10a, 11, 12 are provided one each at the upper, front and back side and the side 25 of the dovetailed slideway 24, 25 is offset from but parallel to the front side 11 and the side 24 is inclined between the front side 1 l and offset side 25. The support in the vertical direction is accomplished through a bridge 31 secured to the lower slide 3 by means of the gib strips 27 and 28 on the slideways 23 and 10b.
The lateral drive of the two planing supports of the illustrated planing and grinding machine is accomplished through the drive spindles 29. The shaft 30 effects a vertical adjustment of the upper slide 4 on the planing supports. The drive spindles 29, 19 for the planing supports and the grinding support, respectively, are each arranged between their slideways near the action line of the resultant of their friction resistance forces.
The embodiments of the invention in which an exclusive property or privilege is claimed are defined as follows:
1. In a cross-slide of a combined tool machine having parallel slideways for multiple supports for different working units, in particular planing and grinding units, the combination comprising:
first slideway means on said cross-slide for one of said multiple supports, said first slideway means including a first guide portion located adjacent the lower edge of said cross-slide;
