Title of the invention
Process and apparatus for the production of steel cable wires with variable stranding structure Field of use of the invention
The invention relates to a process and an apparatus for the production of steel cable wires with variable stranding structure and can be used preferably on double lay stranding machines.
Characteristics of the known state of the art Steel cable wires are an intermediate product in the production of wire cables. They are produced primarily on high-speed stranding machines.
A disadvantage in that respect is that the size of the delivery reels is determined by the stranding tube errbracing same and the dimensions of the tube in turn restrict the speed of z-otation of the high-speed stranding machine.
It follows therefrom that it is not possible to provide for an increase in output in the production of steel cable wires on high-speed stranding machines due to the frequency of the changes of delivery reels and the limited speeds of rotor rotation.
For that reason, the attempt is made to produce steel cable w4res using the highly productive double lay process. Thus for exam-Ole in accordance with EP 01 43 732 the individual wires are drawn from tangential reel delivery means or rotating reel delivery means. That process is productive only in relation to very thin wire diame-ers as in that situation the reels must be very accurately braked and that accurate braking effect can no longer be achieved with an increasing reel mass. In addition the reel masses are crucially limited by the rotating reel delivery means. German laid-open application (DE-OS) No 26 33 280 provides that individual double twist stranding devices on which wires are stranded are associated with a double lay machine on which the wires are to be stranded to form a cable. It is not possible to achieve hiah speeds of rotation and thus high levels of stranding output, due to the ccmplicated structure of the double twist stranding devices.
2 b. 1 d In addition those wires which are stranded with a double lay are heavily tensioned and further processing theregf.to form a cable of high quality is not possible in a practical context.., Aim of the invention The aim of the invention is to produce high-quality wires with a variable stranding structure using the highly productive double lay stranding process, wherein a reliable stranding action and long running tires, that is to say, short stoppage times due to delivery reel changes, are obtained.
Statement of the essence of the invention
The invention is based on the problem of developing a process and an apparatus for the production of steel cable wires with variable stranding structure, wherein special delivery units and brake systems are particularly considered, so that, in co-operation with the double lay stranding machine, a multiplicity of stranding programs can be carried into effect. Use of double lay stranding machines is preferred.
In accordance with the invention we provide that the individual wires, coming from their respective delivery units, are guided in known manner by way of a stranding intake means with twist mans to a double lay stranding machine, but according to the invention the individual wires are selectively - drawn from overhead delivery mans and/or machine reels arranged within a delivery frame. It is a preferred aspect of the invention that the wires which are delivered by the overhead delivery mans, before reaching the stranding intake mans, are passed to a respective brake adaptor which is arranged within the delivery frame, pass therearound an a plurality of turns, and that each machine reel and each brake adaptor are braked by a respective brake controlled by the pull of the wire.
The apparatus for the production of steel cable wires with variable stranding structure, corrprising a double lay stranding machine, a stranding intake means, disposed upstream thereof, with twisting 1.
4 3 -1 r mans, and the individual delivery units for the outgoing wires, in accordance with the invention, upstream of the stranding intake mans, has both overhead delivery means and also a brake and delivery frame, selectively equipped with machine reels and/or brake adaptors, wherein associated with each machine reel and each brake adaptor is a respective brake controlled by the pull of the wire.
It is also considered to be a desirable feature of the invention that each brake adaptor is in the form of a cone with an angle of inclination cc outwardly of from 1 to 3', and shoulders are arranged at both sides of the cone. Preferred Embodiment The invention is described in greater detail by mans of an embodiment. In the drawings:- Figure 1 is a general view of the stranding arrangeirent, is Figure 2 is a side view of a brake controlled by the pull of the wire, and Figure 3 is a view in section through the delivery frame.
As shown in Figures 1, 2 and 3 the entire stranding arrangement comprises a double lay stranding machine 1, with a stranding intake weans 2 disposed upstream thereof.
Arranged in the region of the stranding intake means 2 are two twist means 3 which provide for layer-wise twisting at the twisting points 4.
The individual wires 5 are tangentially delivered selectively from machine reels 6, arranged within a delivery frame 7, or are drawn of f large reels, a=anged in overhead delivery mans 8.
In the tangential delivery mode, the respective wire 5 is guided over a stationary roller 9 and a movable roller 10 which is carried on a springloaded brake lever 11 which is mounted at the pivot point 12. The machine reel 6 is braked by way of the brake 14, by the spring 13.
When the set wire force is exceeded, the brake 14 is eased, by way of the wire 5, so that almost constant forces in respect of the wire occur from the outside diameter of the reel to the core of the reel.
4 When the wire 5 is drawn off by means of overhead delivery means 8, the wire 5 is passed over rollers 15, 16 and 17 to a brake 18 which is arranged at the location of a machine reel 6 in the delivery frame 7, the upper part of Figure 1 being aligned to the left of the lower part.
In order to provide for a reliable braking action on the wire 5, the wire 5 is passed around the brake adaptor 18 a plurality of times.
As the wire 5, as it passes on to the brake adaptor 3.8, must be wound thereon in closely adjoining relationship, the brake adaptor 18 is in the form of a cone 19 with an angle of inclination ot outwardly of f the from 1 to 30. In addition shoulders 20 are disposed at both sides o cone 19 to guide the wire 5.
The wire 5 leaving the brake adaptor 18 -is guided in a similar way to the tangential wire delivery mcde from machine reels 6 over the rollers 9 and 10. The braking effect then. takes place as already described above.
The advantages arising from the arrangement lie in the variable use of small machine reels 6 or large reels, from which the wire 5 is drawn by mans of overhead delivery means 8, wherein, due to the particular brake system, in conjunction with the brake adaptor 18 which is possibly required, the effect of a uniform tensile loading in respect of the wires 5 is maintained, in both alternative forms of draw-of--- arrangement.
For the above-indicated reasons, it is possible to provide both for the delivery of sensitive stranding material from a special delivery frame 7 with forces which can be sensitively adjusted in respect of any wire 5, and also for the stranding of particular mass programs with long running times in respect of the delivery units, in an extremely advantageous manner and with a high level of quality, using one and the same double lay stranding mchine 1.
It will be seen that the characteristic of the so-called 'overhead' delivery means is that the wire leaves at a point substantially on the axis of a preferably stationary reel.
