Abstract
221,250. Holmes & Co., Ltd., W. C., and Cox, K. May 9, 1923. Sulphur.-An apparatus for carrying out the gas purifying process described in Specification 185,780 comprises a chamber containing a bed of reaction material surrounding a coil through which an attemperating fluid such as oil is circulated, this chamber being superposed on a heat exchanger for the incoming and outgoing gases and a sulphur condenser supporting the heat exchanger and leading to a cooling tower for the gases. The previously heated gas passes around the tubes b<2> of the heat exchanger B to the top of a chamber C down through the reaction material in the chamber C through the tubes b<2> and into a sulphur condenser D having a steam coil d<1>. A coil h<3> is embedded in the reaction material H which is contained in a receptacle c<1> which is easily removable without interfering with the central gas pipe b<3>. A lower drum b<4> is heated by internal steam circulator. The sulphur is removed through a plug d<8>.
