Abstract

220,184. Dockree, M. I. Sept. 25, 1923. Mantle accessories.- In an inverted incandescent gas-burner a device for preventing the escape of gas or products of combustion from between the burner nozzle and the mantle-supporting ring comprises a cap a slidably mounted on the nozzle and formed with notches b to accommodate the lugs on the mantle-ring and with depending portions c adapted to close the spaces between the upstanding lugs. The notches b may be enlarged at their inner ends d or the cap a may be made thinner and formed with an inturned flange at the upper edge. In a modification, the device comprises two parts e, f each formed with grooves g, h to enable them to be passed over the burner nozzle, the upper part e being subsequently turned so as to close the passages through the grooves.
