Abstract

Steam-propelled wagons; bunkers.-In a steam road wagon predetermined quantities of solid fuel are fed at intervals from an overhead container A, Fig. 1, through a flexible shute B. The feeding device, shown in Figs. 4 and 5, consists of two pivotally mounted flat plates c having curved extensions c', the spindles of the plates having geared sectors F', F<2> external to the feeding conduit to ensure simultaneous operation by a hand or foot-controlled lever E. The meeting edges of the plates c and c<1> are formed with interntting teeth. The device is normally in the position shown in Fig. 5, and, when operated by turning it into the position shown in Fig. 4, a measured quantity of fuel is discharged into the furnace, On returning the plates to the normal position a fresh charge is allowed to accumulate.
