Portable railways; rail sections, saddle; wheel stops; sleepers, composite. - Extension rails for mine railways comprise a flat tread 5 centrally channelled at 6 and provided with sloping sides 3 and foot-flanges 4. One of the sides 6<1> of the groove 6 engages one side of the head of the main track rail 1. The extension rail is bevelled at one end and provided at the other end with a handle 10 which also serves as a wheel stop. The extension rail may be secured to the rail 1 by wedges 14. The sleepers comprise three sections, an upper metal part 16 and two lower wooden parts 15, 17.
