Abstract

568,986. Railway crossings. KIENER, E. Dec. 22, 1943, No. 21490. [Class 104 (i)] In a railway crossing the point rails 2, 3 are welded to the wing rails 1, 4 and to cross-plates 8 adapted to be secured to sleepers. The head of the point and the adjacent heads of the wing rails may be removed and replaced by harder metal which increases in hardness progressively upwards to the wearing surfaces. The cross-plates 8 may consist of lengths of rail flanges. The invention is applicable to simple and double crossings.
