Jackets and covers.-A cover is built up of strips each comprising a number of rubber impregnated cords, embedded between layers of unvulcanized rubber, the strip so formed being afterwards distorted under pressure in such a manner as is described in Specification 196,276, [Class 144 (i), Wheels for vehicles]. Figs 6, 7 and' 8 show sections of a finished strip composed of one layer of hollow cords between upper and lower layers of unvulcanized rubber. Figs. 12, 13 and 14 show sections of a finished strip composed of three layers of cords with upper, lower and intermediate layers of rubber. More than one ply of such strips may be used to build up a cover, the second ply being laid at an opposite angle from the first. The edges of each strip are bevelled to facilitate close contact of the elements without special precautions.
