Packing screw-threaded pipes.-A protector for the ends of externally screwthreaded pipes d comprises an internally - threaded body a having an inwardly projecting flange or lip b. The part a may be cylindrical or slightly coned. The protectors may be made from short lengths of scrap piping by expanding them in dies or under a hammer to form the cylindrical or slightly conical part and by closing one end of the ring and screw-threading internally. Alternatively, the piping may be drawn specially for the purpose. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 9123/14, [Class 99 (i), Pipes and tubes, Joints &c. for].
