Abstract

This Ice-Box has a Hinged Lid (Fig. 2) with an inset square which allows the lid to be lifted and left hanging attached to the Ice-Box. This gives easy access to the ice in its insert container but the lid is immediately available for replacement, thus avoiding any health hazard as when lid is loose and put down on counter. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Hinged lid ice-box The Invention relates to an Ice-box with Plastic Ring-Hinged Lid.
Ice boxes are very common in Public Bars, Cafe's, Saloons, Restaurants and other Licensed Premises, where they are in constant use; but these are all of the loose lid variety.
This means that the lid on removal, has to be put down, normally on counter, then on removal of ice from Box; has to be picked up and replaced.
This Invention of the Hinged Lid means that the lid is at all times attached and there is no chance of it being put down or moved elsewhere.
The attached drawings show the Plastic Ring Hinge which retains the lid attached to the Box when opened.
The inset square in the lid is a convenient means of lifting and replacing lid.
Figure 1 shows the inset square for lifting the lid and the Plastic Ring let into lid.
Figure 2 shows the rings let into both lid and box.
Figure 3 shows the box open with the ring hinge retaining the lid attached to the Box.
An Ice Box, with its insert container for the ice, has a loose lid which has to be removed and put down, normally on a counter, for the ice to be extracted, usually by tongs.
Despite rigid cleanliness the counter can be a source of germs from cigarette ash and spilled drinks, to be picked up by lid; also during business pressure, the lid may be moved to make room for serving drinks; is overlooked and not replaced for some time.
The present invention means the permanent attachment of the lid and its easy and immediate replacement without it reaching any source of contamination.
The hinge being of plastic also means not rust, or chance of this falling into the ice box.
Any heaith hazard likely to be present as on soiled counter, is overcome by reason of the lid not reaching any such source and lid is much more accessable for replacement.
