Abstract

219,237. Berkel, C. F. M. van. Dec. 14, 1923. Dashpots; vibration- .dampers. - In a slicing- machine, the discharge arm of the slice stacker is controlled by a liquid or pneumatic dashpot. In Fig. 1, the pivoted discharge arm 1 is connected by the lever 3 and the rod 4 to the plunger 5 of the dashpot, the cylinder walls having passages 9 which may decrease in sectional area from top to bottom and - may be provided with a throttle or like regulating device. A spring-pressed ball valve 7 is provided on the plunger 5 and a plate 8 traps the fluid ejected during the downward movement of the piston, If a pneumatic dashpot is used, the passages 9 may be dispensed with and rebounding of the arm 1 is prevented by the friction between a stationary spring-pressed ball 11, Fig. 2, and a cam 10 on the shaft 2.
