Description

SPECIFICATION Vehicle fender The invention relates to a vehicle fender or bumper.
According to the invention there is provided a vehicle bumper which has means for mounting on a vehicle part, means for receiving an impact, and a part for housing part of an existing bumper of the vehicle.
The invention is shown in the accompanying drawings.
Figure 1 shows a perspective view of the bumper; Figures 2-4 show respectively a perspective view, front elevational view and enlarged view of the bumper in position on a vehicle.
Referring to the drawings, the bumper 1 is an auxiliary bumper which has means in the form of brackets 2 with bolt holes 3 for mounting on a vehicle chassis, means to absorb an impact in the form of a metal grid 6 and means in theform of a concave part 5for housing part of an existing bumperofthe vehicle.
The auxiliary bumper 1 is wrap-round. Wings 6 are of U-shape, and project from the brackets 2, which are connected by the central (as viewed) part 7 for receiving and housing the existing bumper part 8.
The brackets 2 are of J-shape, formed from rigid metal forgings, castings or the like. The grid is made of metal too.
The bumper 1 thus encompasses the whole of an existing bumper, that is one with which the vehcile is fitted when it leaves the factory.
1. An auxiliary bumperforavehicle, comprising means for mounting on a vehicle part, means for receiving an impact, and a part for housing part of an existing bumper of the vehicle.
2. An auxiliary bumper according to Claim 1, the part for housing an existing bumper part comprising a concave body part ofthe auxiliary bumper.
3. An auxiliary bumper according to Claim 2, the means for receiving an impactcomprising a metal grid.
4. An auxiiiary bumper according to Claim 3, comprising a wrap-round bumper having lateral wrap-round wings.
5. An auxiliary bumper according to Claim 4, the mounting comprising two spaced brackets which project from the concave part and which have concave parts for accommodating an existing bumper.
6. An auxiliary bumper according to Claim 5,the concave part and the wings each comprising three substantially parallel metal bars.
7. An auxiliary bumper according to Claim 6,the central bar of the concave part being displaced in a vertical sense with respect to the central bars of the wings.
8. An auxiliarybumperforavehicle, substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
9. Avehicle with an auxiliary bumper according to any preceding claim mounted thereon with a vehicle bumper received on the concave part thereof.

**WARNING** start of CLMS field may overlap end of DESC **. SPECIFICATION Vehicle fender The invention relates to a vehicle fender or bumper. According to the invention there is provided a vehicle bumper which has means for mounting on a vehicle part, means for receiving an impact, and a part for housing part of an existing bumper of the vehicle. The invention is shown in the accompanying drawings. Figure 1 shows a perspective view of the bumper; Figures 2-4 show respectively a perspective view, front elevational view and enlarged view of the bumper in position on a vehicle. Referring to the drawings, the bumper 1 is an auxiliary bumper which has means in the form of brackets 2 with bolt holes 3 for mounting on a vehicle chassis, means to absorb an impact in the form of a metal grid 6 and means in theform of a concave part 5for housing part of an existing bumperofthe vehicle. The auxiliary bumper 1 is wrap-round. Wings 6 are of U-shape, and project from the brackets 2, which are connected by the central (as viewed) part 7 for receiving and housing the existing bumper part 8. The brackets 2 are of J-shape, formed from rigid metal forgings, castings or the like. The grid is made of metal too. The bumper 1 thus encompasses the whole of an existing bumper, that is one with which the vehcile is fitted when it leaves the factory. CLAIMS
1. An auxiliary bumperforavehicle, comprising means for mounting on a vehicle part, means for receiving an impact, and a part for housing part of an existing bumper of the vehicle.
2. An auxiliary bumper according to Claim 1, the part for housing an existing bumper part comprising a concave body part ofthe auxiliary bumper.
3. An auxiliary bumper according to Claim 2, the means for receiving an impactcomprising a metal grid.
4. An auxiiiary bumper according to Claim 3, comprising a wrap-round bumper having lateral wrap-round wings.
5. An auxiliary bumper according to Claim 4, the mounting comprising two spaced brackets which project from the concave part and which have concave parts for accommodating an existing bumper.
6. An auxiliary bumper according to Claim 5,the concave part and the wings each comprising three substantially parallel metal bars.
7. An auxiliary bumper according to Claim 6,the central bar of the concave part being displaced in a vertical sense with respect to the central bars of the wings.
8. An auxiliarybumperforavehicle, substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
9. Avehicle with an auxiliary bumper according to any preceding claim mounted thereon with a vehicle bumper received on the concave part thereof.
