Abstract
218,211. Barnard, D. J. Jan. 12, 1924. Addition to 141,484. Grab - buckets. - In the parent Specification, telescopic guiderods extend from the grab-head to the lower cross-bearn 5 for guiding the lower sheaveblock 14 and the lower cross-beam into operative engagement. In order to prevent the ends of the guide-rods extending below the cross-beam, the upper element 20 of each telescopic guide is now not secured to the grab-head, but is free to slide on the lower member 18 whilst passing freely through a collar 21 on the sheave-block, the movement being limited by a collar 22 at the upper end of the member 20. The Figure shows the position of the parts with the grab closed. When the grab is open, the member 20 is suspended in the collar 21 and the inner member 18 is Extended. When the sheave-block 14 is then lowered into engagement with the lower crossbeam the member 20 telescopes upon the member 18. Springs 26 are provided to prevent shock,
