Description

SPECIFICATION A method for cable drawing and an arrangement for executing the method The present invention relates to a method for cable drawing for placing the cable in position on a so-called top insulator supported by a carrier.
The principal objectofthe present invention is aboveallto makeavailablea methodofthe nature indicated by means ofwhich it is possible simply and effectively to place a cable in question in a desired, intended position on a top insulator which is supported by, for instance, a pole at a great distance from ground level.
Said object is achieved by a method in accordance with the present invention, which is characterized essentially in thatthe cable in question is broughtto a cable holder situated laterally in relation to the aforementioned cable-placing position, whereupon the cable is moved in a direction across the longitudinal sense ofthe cable and into the intended position on the insulator.
Afurther object ofthe invention isto make available anarrangementwhich is suitablefor use in the execution ofthe method, and which is easily portable and easily handled.
Said further object is achieved by means of an arrangement in accordance with the present invention, which is characterized essentially in that a connecting component exhibits a holder or a cable holder which fits an insulator at a certain distance one from the other, and in that between the holder and the cable holderthere is present an exposable passage.
The invention is described belowasa preferred illustrative embodiment, in conjunction with which reference is made to the drawings, of which Fig. 1 shows a perspective view of an arrangement in accordance with the invention illustrated in a closed and locked position; Fig. 2 shows the arrangement in an open position; Fig. 3 shows a tool which is suitable for use in moving a drawn cable into an intended position on an insulator in question; Figs. 4-6 show the procedure for using the arrangementforthe purpose of drawing and transferring a cable to the intended position on an insulator, where Fig. 4 shows the arrangement in a locked position, in which drawing ofthe cable is permitted; Fig.Sshowsthearrangementin an open position,in which displacement ofthe cable between a cable holder and an insulator is permitted; and Fig. 6 shows the arrangement with the cable brought to the area directly above the insulator.
An arrangement 1 in accordance with the invention for the purpose of enabling a cable 2to be raised simply and effectively into a position on a so-called top insulator 3 supported by a pole or some other carrier, and which is illustrated in the drawings, for instance in Figs. 5 and 6, may comprise a cable drawing device 4which is attached to the insulator 3 in question prior to drawing and raising an electricity supply cable or some other cable 2 in question onto essentially the same level as the insulator 3 and the intended point of attachment to the insulator 3, and a tool 5, by means of which a cable 2 which has been drawn and raised is easily moved to the intended attachment position on the insulator3 in question.
The cable drawing device 4, which is intended to be executed as an easily portable unit so that it may be carried by, for instance, electricity workers or other persons who are involved in cable drawing operations, and to be easily handled so that dangerous working positions, amongst other things, may be avoided, comprises a preferably rod-shaped connecting component 6 and a holder 7 which fits an insulator 3, as well as a cable holder8 situated ata certain distance from the holder 7.
The holder 7 may consist of an attachment compo nent 7Awhich is securely attached to the connecting rod 6, said attachment component in the example illustrated having the form of a curved clamping jaw fitted with protective cushioning 10 and providing a fit with an upperannulargroove9ofan insulator3.
An attachment component 713 capable of moving along the rod 6 and capable of adjustment relative to said first attachment component 7A may also consist of a jaw-shaped component having a shape which fits that ofthe groove 9, and which is similariy provided with external cushioning 11 so as to prevent damage to the insulator3, which is usually made of a brittle material. The adjustable attachment component 7B comprises a supporting sleeve 12 capable of being slid over the rod 6 and from which there projects an upright 13 with a stay 14 connected between them.To the free end 1 5A ofthe thus formed supporting holder 15 there are attached two fingers 1 6facing away from one another and attached at an angle in relation to one another, said fingers being provided around their periphery with, for example, rubber material which serves as cushioning 11, said fingers 16 also being so arranged asto be accommodated by said insulator grooves 9, etc., at the time of their attachment to the device 4.A clamping component 7 capable of being introduced ontothe rod 6,forexampleintheform of a nut, the internal threads of which are able to interact with external threads 18 on the rod 6 for the purpose of permitting adjustment along the rod 6 after actuation of a handle 19 attached to the nut, serves as a stop for the adjustable attachment component 713 in connec- tion with clamping to an insulator 3.
The cable holder 8 may, as indicated in the drawings, consist of two components 8A, 8B which move in relation to one another, one of said components 8A possibly being fixed. Said fixed component 8A comprises a number of cable supporting rollers 21 and 22 or other components intended to facilitate the drawing of a cable 2 and arranged along the space 20 intended to accommodatethecable, togetherwith guide components 23 and 24 situated at the respective ends ofthe space which exhibit a reduction in width towards the centre of the space 20 and exhibit rounded edges.A casing 25, in which the preferably bobbin-shaped rollers 21,22 are supported via bearing shafts 25C in such a way that they are free to rotate and at the outer ends 25A, 2513 of which said guide components 23, 24areformed, accommodates an angled part 26 ofthe rod 6, preferably rigidly connected to same. The other holding component 8B, which is not fixed, is attached to the casing 25 via an articulated joint 27 connected to the casing 25, said moving component 8B also comprising at each of its ends guide components 29 and 30 similarto the components 23,24.A rotating roller 31 ,etc., capable of interacting with a cable 2 may be supported by the rod 6 in the area above said supporting rollers 21,22, and the function of said upper roller31 is mainly to interact with the cable 2 in the event of an upward effect of same.
Forthe purpose of, amongst otherthings, locking the moving part8B ofthe components 8A, 8B which function both as holding components and cable guide components securely in position next to the fixed component 8A, so that said components 8A, 8B can function as a lock and cam seal a passage 32 situated between the accommodating space 20 ofthe cable holder8 and the attachment component 7, a king device 33 can be provided which is slid onto the rod and which is capable of interacting with said moving part 813. The locking device 33 is bestformed from a threaded stud 35 attached to a sleeve 34 which is capable of being displaced along the rod 6, said stud being intheform of a bolt permanently welded to the head 36 ofthe sleeve.A nut 37, which supports a handle 38 is so arranged as to be capable of acting along the threaded section 39 ofthe rod and, after having accommodated the stud 35 in an appropriate slot40 in the component813, as to interact with the surrounding part 41 of said moving component 813 in order clam to clampsamesecurelytothefixed part 8A.
Acable moving tool 5 capable of interacting with the rod 6 or with a connection capable of being attached to same is preferably sn arranged asto be capable of serving asian aid toachievingthe displacement of a cable 2 which has been raised to the accommodating space 20 in the cable holder8 into the intended position on an insulator3 in question. As may be appreciated from, amongst others, Fig. 3, said tool 5 is in the form of a numberofpreferablyhook-shaped cable supporting devices 43 and 44which, in the example illustrated, consistoftwo pivoting orin some otherway moving hooks 43,44 situated at a certain distance one from the other. One ofthe hooks 44, etc., is pivotallysupported via an articulated link 46 attached to a rod 45 acting as a frame, for which purpose a roller device 47 supported on the frame rod 45 in such a way that it is able to rotate, said device preferably having a form which matches the form of the rod 6, etc., which serves as a connecting component between the holder 7 and the cable holder 8, is supported bytheframe rod45ata certain distance from said hook 44, etc. The other hook 43 is supported via an articulated link 48 by a manually operated lever arm handle 50 connected to the frame rod 45 via an articualted link 49.
The function ofthe arrangement 1 should be clearly evident from, amongst others, Figs. 4-6.
The arrangement 1 is shown in Fig. 4to be attached to an insulator3 with the help of said holder7 which is a part of the arrangement. A cable 2 is held by the constituent ho,der8 ofthe arrangement 1 in its inner accommodating space 20,and as the cable 2 is drawn and raised, either directly or by means of a so-called pilot cable, the possibility is affordedforthe cable 2 to interactwith andto be guided bythe rollers 21,22,31 and the components 23,24,29,30 and is made easier to draw up into position alongside the insulator 3 in question.Once the component 8B has been removed from its position I in which it locks the passage 32, as shown in Figs. 1 and 4, and into its position II in which it opens the passage 32, as shown in Figs. 2,5 and 6, the possibility is afforded, after having swung away the lever arm handle 50, of raising the cable 2 from its position accommodated in the holder8 and of displacing the cable laterally and essentially perpendicularly in relation to the longitudinal direction ofthe cable and into a position directly above the insulator3 in question, on the top 3A of which it is wished to place the cable 2, where it is held by, for example, a groove 51 which fits the cable 2.The displacement ofthe cable 2 laterally with the help ofthetool 5 is facilitated by the fact that the roller device 47 is allowed to interact with, for example, the upper side 6A ofthe rod 6, etc., atthe same time as the user grips the handle 50 and the frame rod 45 in orderto preventthe hook devices 43, 44from swinging downwards. In the intended position above the insulator in question the arm 50 is swung upwards in the direction 52 ofthe end position ofthe arm shown in Fig. so thatthe cable 2 is lowered into position in the groove 51, etc., on the insulator so thatthe cable 2 can then be attached to the insulator3 in an appropriatefashion, for example by lashing.
Ater moving the cable 2 into the intended position on the insulator3,the arrangement 1 is removed by slackening the nut 17 and by drawing apartthe attachmentcomponent7B in a lateral sense away from the attachment component7A, so thatthey can be drawn from the groove 9 on the insulator 3, enabling the cable to be installed on an outer insulator 3 situated along the desired route ofthe cable in the manner indicated above.
The invention is not restricted to the illustrative embodiment described above and illustrated in the drawings, but may be modified within the scope ofthe Patent Claims withoutthe risk of departing from the idea ofthe invention.
