Abstract

S, 1923 Adjusting bearings.-A device for adjusting and locking a screw-threaded member in its support comprises a non-threaded angularly-adjustable element which engages the screw-threaded member so that when it is adjusted it will turn and move the member axially in its support without moving axially itself, and means for retaining the element in its adjusted position. As shown applied to a diaphragm vibrator, Fig. 1, having a rotatable spindle a carrying a member C adapted to vibrate a diaphragm D, a bearing A is screwed into the vibrator casing E and is adjusted axially by a member F having a tongue f engaging an axial slot a<2> in the bearing A. A cap nut G screwed on the end of the bearing A locks the member F in its adjusted position and protects the bearing A from water and dust. In a modification, Fig. 4, the bearing A is adjusted by a cap F<1> having a tongue f<1x> engaging the slot a<2>. Axial movement of the cap F<1> is prevented by a flange e<1> and a spring washer H holds the parts in the adjusted position.
