Abstract

216,669. Johnston, C. F. May 7, 1923. Sounding-members, supports for.-A swinging bell 5 is secured to a cast-iron beam 2 provided with iron or steel stub axles 10 and with a central cylindrical recess 3 adapted to receive the canons 4 of the bell. The recess has four projecting lugs through which pass the securing-bolts 7, pads 8 of wood being interposed between the head of the bell and the lower surface of the beam. The beam may be of solid, hollow rectangular, or H-section and is lightened by means of apertures 13. A pocket 11 and a flange 12 afford means for fixing swinging-mechanism.
