Abstract

484,937. Levels. PAYNE, G. H. Dec. 21, 1936, No. 35054. [Class 97 (ii)] The holder 2, rigidly carrying the bubble tube 1, is mounted in the stock 6 so as to be adjustable to compensate for longitudinal warping of the stock and the reference surface of the stock is defined by metal plates 11 which are independently adjustable to compensate for cross twists of the stock. The holder 2 and plates 11 are secured to the stock 6 by screws 5, 13 respectively with the interposition of rubber or other resilient pads 7, 12. A third metal plate 14 may be provided in the centre of the reference face. The stock may carry a second bubble tube 1<1> at right-angles to the first.
