Coverings for bodies.-Heat-insulating or similar coverings are secured to vehicle or other walls by pressing the insulating layer or slab c against piercing devices previously attached to the wall, e.g. by soldering, and subsequently clinching the protruding portions'of the piercing devices. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 1, the heads of bifurcated rivets b are secured to the wall a and the split limbs of the rivets after passage through the insulating or similar layer c and washers d are bent over the latter, while in the construction shown in Fig. 2 a thin metal strip e is employed having at one end a bent portion g serving as a securing head and a sharp point f at the other end. In the case of non-metallic walls the fastening devices may be secured to metal rails let into or otherwise secured to the walls.
