216,029. Buncher & Haseler, Ltd., and Rodgers, R. C. Aug. 31, 1923. Lids and covers; handles.-The cover of a jug or like receptacle is pivoted to the upper edge of the body at 10 and is provided with a depending part 11 which lies partly within an opening 8 in the wall of the jug when the cover is closed. The handle 1 is pivoted to the jug at its upper end, the lower end being free but constrained by a guide member 5, and attached to or formed integral with the upper end is a part 7 the free end of which lies normally within the opening 8 adjacent to the member 11. When the jug is lifted by the handle the lower end of the latter swings out as far as the guide permits, and the part 7 engages the projection 11 on the cover, causing it to open.
