Description

SPECIFICATION Magazine for yarn ball labels The invention relates to a magazine for yarn ball labels with adjustable guide members resting laterally against the edges of the labels, and with at least one conveyor device for advancing a stack of labels along the guide members.
Known magazines of this kind are intended for strip-shaped labels which are wound as banderole of essentially elongated rectangular shape around a ball of yarn. The magazines enclose the banderole strips right around with adjustable guide metal sheets which guide the strips at their longitudinal and transverse edges. Banderole-type labels cannot be used for flat, lens-shaped balls. In this case, socalled arrow labels which are anchored with an arrow-shaped extension in one of the two ball openings are used. These labels have very different geometric shapes and cannot be fitted into the conventional label magazines.
The object underlying the invention is to suggest a magazine for yarn ball labels, in particular, arrow labels, which is easily adaptable to each label shape and ensures safe conveyance and removal of the labels.
The object is attained in accordance with the invention in that the guide members of the magazine are in the form of guide rods arranged to extend perpendicularly to the labels in mutually spaced relationship for adjustment along the label contour, in that the conveyor device engages in an area between the guide rods and, acting parallel to the latter, at the stack of labels, in that some of the guide rods comprise at the free end stops for the first respective label to be removed from the stack, and in that the remaining guide rods are prolonged at the free end beyond the stops.
The following description of a preferred embodiment of the invention serves in conjunction with the appended drawings to explain the invention in greater detail.
Figure 1 is a view of a label magazine taken from the operating side; Figure 2 is a longitudinal section view of the magazine taken along line 2-2 in Fig. 1; Figure 3 is a sectional view of the magazine taken along line 3-3 in Figs. 1 and 2; Figure 4 is a view similar to Fig. 1 with a template body arranged in the magazine; and Figure 5 is a longitudinal sectional view of the magazine taken along line 5-5 in Fig. 4.
The magazine for arrow labels illustrated in the drawings includes a U-shaped carrier 1 with perpendicularly downwardly extending Ushaped legs 2, 3 and a U-shaped web 4 joining these legs. The downwardly open Ushaped carrier 1 is mounted by means of the web 4 on the stationary frame 5 of a machine, more particularly, a yarn ball winding machine, or which flat balls which are to be labelled are produced.
A rectangular, horizontally extending frame 6 of a conveyor device for the labels to be stored in the magazine is attached to the perpendicularly downwardly extending legs 2, 3 of the carrier 1. Extending within the frame, likewise horizontally, is a conveyor rail 8 on which there is mounted by means of a bushing 9 in a slidably displaceable manner a conveyor a lever 11 which protrudes freely downwardly. The bushing 9 and, consequently, the conveyor lever 11 are subjected to the load of a helical spring 1 2 which surrounds the conveyor rail 8 and displaces the conveyor lever-from the right to the left-as seen in Fig. 2. The bushing 9 is furthermore rotatable on the rail 8, so that the conveyor lever 11 may be pivoted laterally upwardly out of its downwardly directed operating position, as indicated by the dashed lines in Fig. 1.To enable this pivoting to be carried out manually, the bushing 9 is connected to a bracket-shaped handle 1 3.
Adjustable arms 14, 15, 16, 1 7, 18, 19 carrying on their free ends guide rods 21, 22,23, 24, 25 and 26 protrude inwardly in mutually spaced relationship from the two legs 2, 3 of the carrier 1. The guide rods 21 to 26 extend horizontally, as is apparent from Fig. 2. The arms 14 to 1 9 comprise oblong holes 27 with screws 28 penetrating therethrough. The screws 28 are screwed into corresponding threaded bores on the legs 2, 3 of the carrier 1 and enable lateral adjustment of the guide rods 21 to 26 parallel to the axis of the oblong holes 27 and also rotation about the axis of the screws 28 which is oriented parallel to the axis of the guide rods.
In the embodiment illustrated, merely the guide rods 21, 22 and 25, 26 located in the upper and lower planes are arranged for slidable displacement and pivotal motion on the carrier 1. The guide rods 23, 24 located in the center plane are exclusively slidably displaceable, since the arms 16, 1 7 carrying them are each guided in a groove 29 enabling slidable guidance on the legs 2, 3. The groove extends perpendicularly to the axis of the legs 2, 3 so that the guide rods 23, 24 are laterally adjustable merely at a preset level by means of the oblong holes 27.
The horizontally extending guide rods 25, 26 held in a cantiliver manner within the Ushaped carrier 1 beneath the conveyor rail 8 carry and guide a stack 31 (Fig. 2) of arrow labels 32 whose shape is apparent from Fig.
1. The labels 32 include a plane label body 33, with an arrow-shaped extension 34 and tip 35 protruding integrally therefrom. The adjustment of the guide rods is designed such that they extend perpendicularly to the individual labels and rest against their edges. The guide rods 25, 26 engaging in the area of transition between label body 33 and exten sion 34 carry and support the label stack 31, which the guide rods 21, 22 and 23, 24 rest against the label stack at the top and sides, respectively, and exercise more of a centering function. On account of the above-described adjustability of the guide rods 21 to 26 with the aid of the oblong holes 27 and the screws 28, these rods may be easily adapted to any label contours.
Following lateral pivoting of the conveyor lever 11 into the position illustrated in dashed lines in Fig. 1, the label stack 31 may be inserted between the guide rods 21 to 26 from the operating side of the magazine located at the right in Fig. 2. As is apparent from Fig. 2, the guide rods are pointed at their end facing the operating side, which enables insertion of the label stack 31 between the rods. On the removal side of the magazine, which is located opposite to the operating side (and at the left in Fig. 2), the free ends of the guide rods 23, 24 arranged in the center plane are provided with stops 36, against which he first respective label 32 to be removed from the stack 31 rests. The stops 36 are in the form of a annular collar.A plate 37 (Figs. 1 and 2) arranged at the free end of the conveyor lever 11 engages on the operating side of the magazine in an area between the guide rods and, acting parallel to the latter, at the last label of the label stack.
The entire stack is thereby pressed against the stops 36 under the action of the spring 1 2.
Upon removal of labels on the removal side, the spring 1 2 as conveyor means pushes the stack slowly forward.
Removal of the respective first label on the removal side of the magazine may be carred out with a suction head (known per se and therefore not illustrated) which engages the first respective label opposite to the plate 37 in the area between the guide rods 21 to 26 and pulls it off over the stops 36 by suction.
The stack 31 is then supported again via the following label now exposed, at the stops 36 until this label is also removed during the next lift by the suction head.
The guide rods 21, 22 and 25, 26 located in the upper and lower planes are prolonged at their free end beyond the stops 36 arranged on the guide rods 23, 24. This ensures that the first labels located on the removal side o-the stack are also safely guided even if they should become warped in the direction of the removal side under the pressure of the conveyor device 7.
The guide rods 21 to 26 are adjusted to the label contour with the aid of a template body 38 corresponding to this contour, as illustrated in Figs. 4 and 5.
The template body 38 is first centred with the aid of arms 39 protruding laterally from it in the center plane of the U-shaped carrier 1.
Protruding from the template body 38 are projections 41 between which the guide rods 23, 24 arranged in the center plane may be inserted. After insertion of the guide rods 23, 24, the arms 39 may be removed. The template body 38 is now supported in its centred position by the guide rods 23, 24 which are retained in this position. The guide rods 21, 22 and 25, 26 located in the upper and lower planes are subsequently adjusted with the aid of the oblong holes 27 and the screws 28 in such a way that the guide rods rest against the outside contour of the template body.
When the arms 14, 15 and 18, 19 carrying the rods 21, 22 and 25, 26 have been retained, the template body is removed in the direction of the operating side of the magazine 10 (at the right in Fig. 5), and the label stack is subsequently inserted between the guide rods 21 to 25.
As illustrated, the guide rods 21 to 26 are arranged in mirror image relationship to one another, so that the guide lever 11 may have a centering effect when the stack is pushed forward. In the embodiment illustrated, the magazine is arranged in such a way that the conveyor device of the label stack extends horizontally. Arrangements with conveyor devices extending differently are also possible, more particularly, also with vertically oriented conveyance. The cross-sectional shape of the guide rods 21 to 26 is preferably circular, although other shapes are also possible. The downwardly open U-shaped cross-sectional shape of the carrier 1 enables particularly easy insertion of the label stack from the operating side. The driving force for the advancing of the label stack originates in the embodiment illustrated and described from the helical spring 1 2. Other energy stores may also serve as driving force, for example, also weights suspended on ropes, in which case the ropes guided over rolls engage the conveyor lever 11. Advancing of the label stack occurring synchronously with the removal of the labels is also possible. Such a driving means may, for example, engage the conveyor lever. Conveyor devices engaging the label stack laterally, for example, small conveyor belts or screw spindles are also conceivable. In the latter case, for example, the guide rods 23, 24 arranged in the center plane might be in the form of screw spindles which are driven by a motor.
