Abstract
215,878. Field, J. March 2, 1923. Holders for sliding windows.- In sliding windows wherein the upper and lower sashes are provided on each side with two projections adapted to move in vertical grooves 2 in the window frame 1, notches 3 are formed branching from the main grooves 2 to engage the projections on the lower sash, and side branch grooves 7, 9 are also provided into which the projections on the upper sash are moved when that sash is to be moved to one side of the lower sash. Normally the sashes are in one plane but when the upper sash is moved to one side its projections are adapted to drop down into grooves 8, 10. The upper side grooves 7 are so shaped that the upper sash can pivot inwardly on the lower projections, as can also the lower sash when the other has been removed. Both the upper and lower sides grooves extend to the inside of the frame to allow for disengagement of the sashes from the frame. The bottom edge of the upper sash is provided with a V-shaped recess and the lower edge of the lower sash with a corresponding recess.
