Description
SPECIFICATION
The balcony escape ladder
The Balcony Escape Ladder is a ladder designed specifically for the purpose of climbing from one balcony to another in the advent of an emergency, i.e. a fire.
It is to be made of tubular steel or box construction aluminium with wooden steps, and is designed in such a way, that in an emergency it can be temporarily anchored to the rails of two balconies, one vertically above the other, thus enabling a person to be able to climb down from one balcony to the next and escape.
As mentioned above, it is to be made of tubular steel in a box girder construction with wooden steps or in box construction aluminium. It is to be made in two halves for easy storage, the two halves to be joined by an interlocking system. Either side of the ladder, will be a small hand rail, to ensure that a person can hold him or herself close to the ladder, and thus ensure there is no danger of leaning back and falling.
1. A balcony escape ladder designed for the purpose of climbing from one balcony to another in the case of fire.
2. A balcony escape ladder, as claimed in claim 1, with an automatic or manual inter locking system at 'A'.
