Bedsteads convertible into seats, couches, &c.-A convertible bedstead and couch comprises a mattress b on a sliding frame b<1> and a smaller mattress c adapted to form the back of a couch &c. (Fig. 2), or an extension of the mattress b when used as a bed (Fig. 4). The arrangement is such that when adjusted to the position of Fig. 2 a substantial space is provided between the mattresses to accommodate the bedclothes. The mattress c is mounted on a backing c<1> carried by pairs of links d, d<1>, one link of each pair being pivoted to the end of the bedstead &c. framing a, and the other to the mattress support b<1>. The links d' are guided in slots e in the bed posts, the parts; being secured in the position of Fig. 2 by the engagement of rollers f in notches g. When required as a bedstead, the support b<1> is first raised to discharge the stops h which may be arranged to co-operate with hooks or other fastening-devices on the framing.
