Abstract

213,029. Evans, W. G. Jan. 5, 1923. Bags for golf. - A fitting for preventing unauthorized extraction of golf clubs &c. from caddie bags and the like comprises fixed and movable plates mounted transversely in the bag in close proximity and provided with apertures so that the handles after being passed through the apertures may be locked therein by turning the movable plate, the upper plate being provided with guides for directing the handles into the apertures. As shown. the bottom of the caddie bag is fitted with two apertured plates 1, 4 supported above a base-plate 2 by pillars 9. The club handles 6 pass through the apertures and rest on the base-plate 2. Withdrawal is prevented by rotating the plate 4 by means of an external lug 13' so as to restrict the apertures, a padlock being then secured through apertures 14, 15. The padlock may similarly be used to retain the plate 4 after adjustment to the open position. The apertures in the plates 1, 4 may be of key-hole or pear-shape. The upper plate 1 is provided with inclines to direct the handles to the apertures. In a modification, the movable plate 4 is arranged to slide instead of to rotate, and is retained in the open position by springs.
