Abstract
276,846. Ritchie, W. L. Oct. 5, 1926. Bags for golf clubs. -In a hooded golf bag the hood is secured to the outside of the bag near the open end so that it may be pulled down to encircle the bag, one member of a detachable device is secured to the bag near the open end and the other member of the detachable device is secured to the top end of the carrying- strap, and an opening is formed in the hood in such a position that the member of the fastening device secured to the bag can be passed through the hood when the hood is turned down and can then be engaged by the other member on the carrying strap. The bag is shown in Fig. 1 with the hood 1 turned down the sides of the bag and secured by a strap 12. A slot 6 in the hood allows a ring 4 on the bag to be passed through the hood for attachment of a snap hook 5a on the upper end of the carrying strap 5. After first releasing the snap hook the hood may be turned into the closed position shown in Fig. 3, and closed by a slider 7 co-operating with fastening strips 8. A padlock 11 may be applied. Umbrella loops 13 and 13a may be provided. The bag may be of oval shape as shown in Fig. 6, and may have an inclined mouth 3, Fig. 7, divided by transverse rods or straps 14. When a carrying handle 16 is employed the opening 6 is elongated to pass over both the handle 16 and the ring 4.
