212,836. Bowman, N. K. Sept. 4. 1023. Endless - c h a i n machines.-A reversible bit for a coalcutting machine comprises an concavo-convex member 13 of V- shaped cross section with its ends converging towards the convex side of the bit; the bit rests on a correspondingly formed seat on the stock 10 and is held by a clamp 19 embracing the bit and stock and engaging side recesses 18 in the bit, the clamp being locked by a set screw 20. The stock 10 may be integral with or connected to the links of the cutter chain. In a modification, Fig. 5, the base of the V-section points towards the stock 10. two cutting points being provided at each end of the bit.
