Abstract

211,908. Thomson, H., Macfarlane, D., and Ramsay, R. Sept. 15, 1922. Picking-motions; picking sticks and connections.-Chains h, Fig. 2, are adjustably secured by blocks to a sliding bar beneath the lay, which bar operates the picking-blocks d by means of a picking-stick e and a lazy-tongs system, the chains being connected to levers m acted upon by springs n and cams o, the operative picking movements being effected by the stressed springs so as to be timed by, but independent of, the speed of the loom. The lengths of the springs may be adjusted. In a modification, each picking-stick, Fig. 6, is detachably secured in a bracket 3 provided with an operating-arm 4 actuated by a lever m controlled by a cam o and operated by a spring 7 adjustably secured to a bracket 9. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 2208/73, 9175/05, and 28379/10.
