Abstract

Two longitudinal side members 1 of the truck are each of inverted U- section and mount three stationarily- supported casters whereof the middle one 3 is supported at a lower level than the other two in order to serve as rocker for manoeuvrability. Due to this, the frame can be sturdy and support heavy loads, and such trucks can be economically manufactured and steering thereof is facilitated. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Truck for carrying baskets and the like This invention relates to a truck for use as support for the carrying of baskets and the like.
Such trucks are known, inter alia, for marketing centres and the stocking of cold-storage rooms.
These trucks are usually fitted with casters which, however, make guidance on a straight course difficult and are, moreover, susceptible to jamming.
The object of the present invention is to remedy these problems and to make feasible, with economical fabrication of such trucks and the potentiality of easy steering, a sturdy frame structure which can also deal with heavy loads.
The truck in accordance with the invention, for use as support for the carrying of baskets and the like, is characterised to this end by a frame which has two spaced and parallel side members both of inverted U-section with each mounting between the limbs thereof three stationarily-supported casters the middle one of which is supported at a somewhat lower level than the others in order as a rocker to serve for the manoeuvrability of the truck. With this the U-sections at the two sides are preferably provided with respective spacing angle guides which extend outwardly and upwardly from the base of the respective U and serve for locating baskets and facilitate stacking.
The object of the invention is thereby attained with simple means.
Further details of the invention will be apparent from the following description of an exemplary specific embodiment shown in the accompanying drawing, in which: Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a truck; Figs. 2 and 3 are sections through an end and a side of the truck with layout of casters; and Fig. 4 illustrates the stacking of such trucks.
As can be seen from the drawing, the truck consists of a frame which is rectangular in plan and the spaced and parallel side members of which are of inverted U-section with each mounting between the limbs thereof three stationarily-supported casters 2 and 3 of which the middle one (3) is supported at a lower level than the other two (2) as is evident from Fig. 4.
Because of the rocking action resulting due to this, the manoeuvrability on a small radius at the two middle rollers (3) is made possible, while a satisfactory straight course guidance is assured.
The U-sections at the two sides are provided with respective upwardly-extending spacing angle guides 4 as is illustrated in Fig. 4. These angle guides 4 serve for locating baskets and, due to their lateral projection at the two sides, also for the protection of the axle bearings 5 on colliding and for location of the casters of a superposed truck on stacking in conformity with Fig. 4.
The U-sections 1 at the two sides are, moreover, combined as the long sides into the frame construction through square-section bars 6 each of which ends in the angle guides 4 as can be gathered from Figs. 1 and 2. The U-sections 1, moreover, can be produced in one piece by an extrusion process, while sections generally on the market can be used in the case of the squaresection bars 6. The frame structure may be, and preferably is, manufactured in aluminium or refined steel so that it is rustproof and can be cleaned easily with water.
Claims
1. A truck for use as support for carrying baskets and the like, comprising a frame which has two spaced and parallel side members both of inverted U-section with each mounting between the limbs thereof three stationarily-supported casters the middle one of which is supported at a somewhat lower level than the others in order as a rocker to serve for the manoeuvrability of the truck.
2. A truck in accordance with claim 1, in which the U-sections at the two sides are provided with respective spacing angle guides which extend outwardly and upwardly from the base of the respective U and serve for locating baskets and facilitate stacking.
3. A truck in accordance with claim 1 or 2, in which the U-sections at the two sides are combined into the frame construction through square-section bars each of which ends in the angle guides.
4. A truck in accordance with claim 3, in which the outer or front and rear casters are set at such intervals that, on stacking, they are positioned between and adjacent the square-section bars at the ends.
5. A truck in accordance with claim 2 or claims 2 and 3 or 4, in which the U-sections are formed in one piece, with the angle guides in an extrusion process.
6. A truck for use as a support for carrying baskets and the like, substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to the accompanying drawing.
