Description

SPECIFICATION Hydraulically actuatable rolling bearing friction clutch release device The invention relates to a hydraulically actuatable rolling bearing releaser device for friction clutches which is arranged concentrically with the gear shaft, consisting inter alia of a housing part with hydraulic connection secured to the clutch or gear housing, a pressure chamber formed from the housing part on the one part and a rolling bellows element on the other, the rolling bellows element acting through a support part upon the release bearing for the actuation of the friction clutch.
A hydraulically actuatable rolling bearing releaser for friction clutches is known by way of example from German Pub. Sp. 2,923,487. In this known construction the pressure chamber is formed firstly from a housing part firmly connected with the gear housing, and from a rolling bellows element which transmits the release movement to the release bearing and carries out this movement in an annularcylindrical chamber with appropriate rolling movements of the elastic material of the rolling bellows element. In the known rolling bellows element a great difference is to be noted between its internal diameter and its external diameter.
Therefore it csn be produced only as a round annular part and its production is thus relatively expensive.
It is an object of the.present invention to form a rolling bellows element for a hydraulically actuatable rolling bearing releaser to that it can be produced easily and at favourable price.
According to the invention there is provided a hydraulically actuatable rolling bearing releaser for friction clutches, which is arranged concentrically with the gear shaft, consisting inter alia of a housing part with hydraulic connection secured to the clutch or gear housing, and a pressure chamber formed from the housing part on the one hand and a rolling bellows element on the other, the rolling bellows element acting through a support part upon the rolling bearing for the actuation of the friction clutch, characterised in that the rolling bellows element consists of two concentric parts, the outer part rests by its external diameter with an external sealing bead upon the housing part and seals in relation thereto and rests by its internal diameter with an inner sealing bead on the support part and seals in relation thereto and the inner part rests by its external diameter with an outer sealing bead on the support part and seals in relation thereto-with a diameter smaller than the inner sealing bead of the outer part-and by its internal diameter rests with an inner sealing bead again on the housing part and seals in relation thereto, the two sealing beads lying radially opposite to one another at a short distance, of the two rolling bellows parts being held by an annular washer on the support part.
By the division of the one rolling bellows element into two concentric parts it is possible to produce each of these two parts in the form of a flexible tube, since after the fitting of this two-part rolling bellows element each individual part displays only slight differences of diameter from the original production form as flexible tube. The production of the two concentric parts of the rolling bellows element each from a flexible tube-with different diameters-is considerably more favourable in price than the one-piece production of a substantially flat structure with large external diameter and with the movement zone arranged concentrically in the middle region.
The arrangement of the two rolling bellows element parts may be made so that their supporting in relation to the support takes place by means of an annular washer the fastening elements of which penetrate the relatively narrow radial interspace between the two rolling bellows element parts on the support part.
The invention will be explained in greater detail below by reference to an example of embodiment.
In the drawing there is illustrated a hydraulically actuatable rolling bearing releaser which is ordinarily arranged between the friction clutch (not shown) and a gear box, namely concentrically with a gear shaft. The releaser consists of a housing part 1 which is secured to the gear box (not shown). The housing part 1 has a hydraulic connection 2 which serves for connection to a hydraulic clutch-actuation system. The housing part 1 encloses partially a pressure chamber 3 which is defined in the direction towards the friction clutch by a rolling bellows elements 5, 8 which is of two-part formation, namely with an outer part 5 and an inner part 8 which are arranged substantially concentrically with one another. The outer part 5 of the rolling bellows element is held and sealed with its outer sealing bead 6 by a sheet-metal ring 1 9 on the housing part 1, while the inner sealing bead 7 of the outer part 5 of the rolling bellows elements is clamped to the support part 4 and sealed in relation thereto. The inner part 8 of the rolling bellows element is arranged concentrically with the outer part 5 with a smaller mean diameter and its outer sealing bead 9 is likewise supported on the support part 4 and sealed in relation thereto, namely on a smaller mean diameter than the inner sealing bead 7 of the outer part 5 of the rolling bellows element. For the securing of the two sealing beads 7 and 9 an annular washer 12 is provided which clamps the two sealing beads 7 and 9, from the pressure chamber 3, upon the support part 4, namely by a plurality of splined pins 11 or screws distributed on the circumference, which are anchored in the support part 4 in the diametrical zone left free between the sealing beads 7 and 9. The inner sealing bead 10 of the inner part 8 of the rolling bellows elements is again clamped to the housing part 1 and sealed, namely by the sliding sleeve 14, which has a constricted zone 20 with a smaller diameter and is crimped to the housing part 1. The support part 4 in a manner not to be described further guides the non-rotating outer race ring 17 of the releaser bearing 15, the rotating inner race ring 1 6 of which acts upon the release elements of the friction clutch (not shown). In the region of its internal diameter the support part 4 has a foot 13 which is axially displaceably guided on the external circumference of the sliding sleeve 14. This guidance guarantees that the two rolling bellows element parts 5 and 8 and the releaser bearing 1 5 always carry out an exactly rectilinear movement during clutch actuation. Furthermore in the illustration a spring 18 is provided which bears upon the housing part 1 on the one part and the support part 4 on the other. This spring 18 serves to load the releaser bearing 1 5 with a slight predetermined initial load for the permanent application of the inner race ring 1 6 to the release parts of the friction clutch.
The function of the hydraulically actuatable rolling bearing reieaser is as follows:- The pressure medium situated in the pressure chamber 3 is charged, for the release of the clutch, with a pressure through the hydraulic connection 2. This causes a resultant force upon the two parts of the rolling bellows element 5, 8 and upon the support part 4 in the direction of the arrow A. The releaser bearing 15, which bears through its outer race ring 17 upon the support part 4, is moved by this force in the direction of the arrow A and through its inner race ring 16 actuates the release parts of the clutch. On reduction of pressure in the pressure chamber 3, due to the force of the main clutch spring (not shown) effecting the engagement of the clutch a return movement takes place of the releaser bearing 15 with the support part 4, contrarily of the direction of the arrow A and thus in the direction of engagement of the friction clutch.
Each of the two parts 5 and 8 of the rolling bellows element is produced as a cylindrical tube part with different diameters, namely the outer part 5 with a larger diameter than the inner part 8, whereby the production is substantially simplified.
Then in the installed condition it is merely necessary for the inner sealing bead 7 to have a slightly smaller diameter than the outer sealing bead 6 and the inner sealing bead 10 to have a slightly smaller diameter than the outer sealing bead 9. The fastening to the support part 4 is here effected in that the inner sealing bead 7 of the outer part 5 has a somewhat larger diameter than the outer sealing bead 9 of the inner part 8, so that the fastening elements-splined pin 1 1-- of the annular washer 12 can be fitted between the two sealing beads 7 and 9.
