Abstract

A cover of weather-proof material for a rotary clothes drier, which protects the clothes from inclement weather and facilitates continuing drying during such weather, incorporates a vertical shield B of weatherproof material (of not less than three feet in length) in addition to the roofing area and wind vents D in that roofing area which allows the air to escape in windy conditions and facilitates air movement for drying the clothes. The lower edge of the vertical shield is turned up to form a 'gutter' C provided with an overflow pipe E and a drainage plug I. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Weathershield for rotary clothes drier This invention relates to weather protection for a clothes drier of the rotary type.
Rotary driers incorporate two main advances over a normal clothes line i) they inclose in a small area a long length of line for hanging clothes ii) they rotate under wind pressure.
This invention takes advantage of both advances and adds another dimension in that it covers the drying area with a clear waterproof material to protect clothes from inclement weather (mainly rain).
The weathershield cover is attached to an existing standard rotary drier as described in the drawing attached. It is stabilised in wet weather by the weight of water in a gutter running all around the outer perimeter. An overflow pipe is supplied to ensure the entrapped water is not excessive in quantity or weight.
The top of the cover contains wind vents which allow air to escape in windy conditions and also facilitate air movement for drying.
The weathershield cover is easily attached and removed from a standard rotary drier.
Key to Attached Drawing of Weathershield for Rotary Clothes Drier A: Standard rotary clothes drier.
B: Clear weatherproof material covers top and hangs for a distance over the sides.
C: Outside perimeter of weatherproof material turned up to form a firm 'gutter'.
D: Vents in 'roof' to allow passage of air.
E: Overflow pipe to carry away excess water in 'gutter'.
F: Fitting to attach to centre pole of standard rotary drier to hold and lift weathershield cover.
G: Brackets which clamp on three outer poles of standard rotary drier fixing and shaping weathershield cover.
H: Cap to clamp shield to bracket (G).
I: Drainplug to drain away all water entrapped in gutter when necessary.
1. This invention relates to weather protection for the drying of clothes on an outdoors clothes drier of the rotary type so as to shelter the clothes from inclement weather whilst facilitating a continuation of the drying process.
2. Rotary driers incorporate two main advances over a normal clothes line: i) they enclose in a small area a length of line for hanging clothes ii) they rotate under wind pressure.
2a. The object of this invention is to cover the drying area of a rotary clothes line with waterproof material which both roofs the area and forms a vertical cover down from the roof.
2b. The object of this invention is to allow rotation and wind pressure to continue the drying process despite inclement weather by the provision of wind vents within the roof section of the weatherproof material.
3. The object of this invention is that this weathershield cover is easily attached and removed from a standard rotary drier.
