Abstract
210,989. Nilson, C. E. J. Feb. 13, 1923. Switch mechanism interlocking with lids.-A combined valve and electric switch for use on motor-driven vehicles has both the switch and valve opened and closed and the component parts of the casing locked together by manipulating the key of a lock. The valve member is actuated against the action of a spring 3 by a wire 9 passing through a tube 7 and connected to a slide 11 having a slot 12 engaged by an eccentric pin on the barrel 14 of the lock which is fitted with locking pins 18 released by a key 17. The slide 11 also carries a rod 20 of insulating material fitted with a cylindrical contact 21 adapted to connect two spring contacts 22 mounted on the bottom of the box 8 when the slide is moved to open the valve. The cover 2 of the box 8 has four sockets 37 adapted to engage corresponding pins 39 secured to the bottom of the box, both sockets and pins being recessed to receive the slide 11. The slide is recessed so that the cover can only be removed when the valve is in the open position.
