Abstract

Pencil - holders. - In a pencil-holder of the screw-propelling type, the outer member of the propelling- mechanism is elongated and is retained in operative engagement with the follower by the pointsection, so that, on removal of the pointsection, the follower can be returned without screwing it back. The follower e works in a slotted lead-holding tube d on which is mounted a tube d<1> adapted to be gripped frictionally by the point-section b. The follower is provided with a nut e<1> engaged by the two halves f, f<x> of a split tube formed at each end with a pivot pin mounted in collars g, g<1>, the former being secured to the casing a. Extensions f<3>, f<4> of the parts f, f<x> project beyond the end of the casing and are adapted to be engaged by the pointsection b to force the parts f, f<x> into engagement with the nut e<1>. On removal of the point-section the parts open automatically; a spring may be provided to assist in opening the parts. Propulsion of the lead is obtained by rotation of the casing a and the parts f, f<x> relatively to the pointsection and tube d. A receptacle c for spare leads is provided.
