Abstract

210,428. Weissenstein, F. Jan. 23, 1923, [Convention date]. Alloys.-Bearing-metal alloys which comprise tin, antimony, and lead, within the limits of the field III of the accompanying diagram, with or without the addition of copper are improved by the addition of a small proportion of one or more metals such as mercury, bismuth, or cadmium, which form a solid solution with the principal metals of the alloy. In alloys containing 20-52 per cent of tin, 12-20 per cent of antimony, and 28-68 per cent of lead, with or without copper, 0.1-2 per cent of lead may be replaced by an equal amount of cadmium, or 0.1-3 per cent of lead may be replaced by an equal amount of bismuth, or of mercury, or of bismuth and cadmium.
