Abstract

210,041. James, A. M. Jan. 18, 1923, [Convention date]. Skyliyhts; glazing.-In skylights wherein the lower ends of the sides 1, Fig. 2, are bent to form a flashing 2, the sides are bent inwardly to provide condensation channels 6 and have their upper edges turned to form a groove 9 for an asbestos or other packing-cord 10 upon which the skylight glass is adapted to be secured. The upper parts of the sides are doubled at 5, and the portions 7 are provided with ventilation holes 8. Stiffening-bars 11, secured by rivets 12 to the skylight sides, are provided with outwardly projecting flanges 18 which are turned vertically upwards at 13. The glass 16 rests upon the packing 10 and is held in position by the flashing 17, which is secured to the horizontal portion 18 of the stiffener 11. In a wide skylight, glazing-bars as shown in Figs. 4 and 5, are employed. The bars are formed with two sides 21 bent outwardly and doubled back to form condensation channels 22, the upper ends 23 being bent to form grooves 24 for the packing-cord 10. The flashing-strips 29 are secured by means of bolts 28 to stiffening- brackets 26 provided at intervals.
