Abstract

208,971. McGuire, W. A., and McGuire Band & Lining Manufacturing Co., Inc. April 5, 1923. Band.-Brake bands, and more particularly those for use with the transmission gear of motorvehicles of the Ford type, are provided with a detachable brake lining which may be inserted or removed without disturbing the band. The lining 20 for the band 6 is preferably reinforced by a narrow steel strip 21 and carries at its end clips 22, 23 provided with offset necks 24 and heads 25, so that it may be fixed in position by passing the necks 24 between open slots 18 at the ends of the band and be further secured by the engagement of pins on the lugs 8, 9 with slots 26 in the heads. Ears 27 are provided on one of the clips to guide the lining round the band when it is inserted and ears 28 hold it against lateral displacement. The band 6 has depressions 29, 32 to receive the heads of the rivets which secure the strip 21 to the lining.
