Abstract
208,752. White, J. W., and Valberg, C. O. Aug. 30, 1922. Terminals and stations for overhead and suspended ways.-Relates to overhead ropeways of the kind in which carriers 3 are hauled along a track rope 4 by a haulage cable 5 which is automatically disengaged from the carrier by a ramp rail 7 at the in-bound side of the terminal station and re-engaged by a ramp rail 17 at the outbound side. An open cage 2 is suspended from the carrier and mine tubs or rail wagons are loaded into and unloaded from the cage automatically at the terminal station. Figs. 1 and 2 show the in-bound and out-bound side of the station respectively. When the incoming loaded carrier reaches C the weight of the cage is taken by the rail 6, at D the haulage rope is released from the carrier, at E the tub is supported on the rails 8, at F the cage is held by a stop 10 adjacent to the track and the tub runs out. The tub then engages a lever 11 so as to release the stop 10, and the cage and carrier run, preferably by gravity, round the curve of the track 9 to the out-bound side of the station. On reaching the position G. Fig. 2, the empty cage is held back by a stop 19 until another tub from the track 14 enters the cage and engages a lever 16 releasing the stop. The carrier then moves by gravity along the rail 9 until picked up by the haulage rope 5.
