Abstract

A hair growth promoting mixture includes as essential ingredients, oil of garlic and cider vinegar, mixed with honey or fruit juice. A vegetable oil may be included. A dose thereof is to be ingested orally at regular intervals.

Description

SPECIFICATION Hair growth promoting mixture This invention relates to a hair growth promoting mixture.
Many cures for baldness have been proposed, and so far as is known to the Applicant, few have shown any signs of success. Some so-called "cures" involve applying various formulations to the bald skin areas, and some involve the ingestion orally of particular compositions or mixtures. It has been generally believed among trichologists and other experts in the field that compositions or mixtures ingested orally are not effective to promote hair growth on bald areas. I have discovered that hair growth can be promoted by an orally-ingested mixture.
According to the invention, there is provided a hair growth promoting mixture to be ingested orally which is characterised by the presence therein of oil of garlic as a first component, cider vinegar as a second component and a third component which is either pure honey or a pure fruit juice.
In the preferred version of the invention there is included in addition a vegetable oil as a fourth component, the most preferred oil being sunflower oil.
The preferred third component is pure honey. A favoured alternative is pure grape juice.
In one advantageous particular version of the invention, all four components are in liquiid form and are present in amounts within the following ranges: TABLE I Component Amount per dose Pure concentrated oil of garlic 0.009 to 0.015 grams Cider vinegar 9 to 15 ml.
Pure honey 22 to 38 ml.
Vegetable oil (optional) up to 6 ml.
A preferred and advantageous mixture according to the invention has amounts as set out in Table II below, and the third column gives the mixture (Recipe A) so far found to be most successful.

The above tables refer to amount per dose. It is recommended that either two or three doses per day should be taken, one in the early morning, one in the evening, and optionally one at lunch time.
Other vegetable oils which,may be included instead of, or in addition, to sunflower oil, are olive oil, maize oil, and corn oil.
Instead of pure honey one may include a desired amount, e.g. up to 50 ml., of pure grape juice.
Alternatively, one dose may include a desired amount of orange juice, or grapefuit juice, or apple juice.
If desired, the oil of garlic may be included in the dose in capsule form, since oil of garlic capsules are commercially available from many health food shops.
The exact physiological mechanism by which the mixture achieves its effect is not now known or understood, but tests conducted over many months have shown successful hair growth on head areas of a male aged approximately 50 years which prior to regular ingestion of the mixture were completely bald. It is of course necessary to persevere with the doses, and naturally results within a few days of commencing taking the doses should not be expected.

Claims (7)

1. A hair growth promoting mixture to be ingested orally characterised by the presence therein of oil of garlic as a first component, cider vinegar as a second component and a third component which is either pure honey or a pure fruit juice.
2. A mixture according to claim 1 which includes a vegetable oil as a fourth component.
3. A mixture according to claim 1 or 2 in which the third component is pure honey.
4. A mixture according to claim 1 or 2 in which the third component is pure grape juice.
5. A single dose of a mixture according to any one of claims 1-4 in which the amounts are as follows: pure concentrated oil of garlic 0.009 to 0.015 grams cider vinegar 9to 15 ml.

6. A dose according to claim 5 in which the amounts are: pure concentrated oil of garlic 0.010to 0.014 grams cidervinegar lOto 14 ml.

7. A dose according to claim 5 or 6 in which the amounts are: pure concentrated oil of garlic 0.012 grams cider vinegar 12 ml.
pure honey 30 ml.
