Abstract
208,185. Shishkoff, P., and Hearson, H. R. July 12, 1922. Dials and scales.-Relatss to means for griving magnified readings of the movement of indicators in measuring instruments such as barometers and other slow moving instruments, the magnification being by intersection of fixed and moving elements at an angle, and comprises the continuation of a main scale and pointer and an intersection reading scale with a cursor for the clearer reading of the position of the intersection. The casing has a transparent portion with a fixed pointer 11 over a scale 10 on the moving drum, which also carries a set of inclined' lines 6, Fig. 3, the intersection of which with a fixed line 12 in a slot 9 is read by means of a cursor 13 having a hair line, and a scale on the casing. If the slope of the lines 6 is very steep the intersection is rendered more visible by a cylindrical lens 24, Fig. 5, fitted longitudinally on the slot. The lens may extend the whole length of the slot or may be short and carried in the cursor, in which case the hair line is inscribed on its flat surface.
