Abstract
207,265. Preston, L. G., Shearing, G., and Grainger, E. J. Aug. 24, 1922. Thermionic generators; drying-out aerials.- In an arrangement for transmission by thermionic valves, an inductance C<2> in the anode supply circuit and a condenser D in series with it in the aerial supply circuit have an inductancecapacity product approximately equal to that of the aerial circuit. The inductances may be subdivided into parts C<1>, C<2> so that the final adjustment may be carried out on the portion C' while the circuit is oscillating. Fig. 1 shows the invention applied for drying out ar. aerial. The circuit of the invention is not used normally, but switches O, F, N, serve to place inductance C<2> and capacity D in the circuit, while switch S serves to reverse the grid coupling coil R. The change-over for drying out can be effected by operating switch T. The circuit comprising C', C<2>, D, R and a portion of the aerial coil E has an inductance-capacity product equal to that of the aerial, and the oscillating current set up in this circuit will induce an electromotive force which will dry-out the aerial.
