Hydrocarbons, distilling; separate heater and evaporator apparatus.-The oil is circulated by a pump 11 between a tubular heater 4, in which the oil passes in countercurrent to the heating- gases from a furrace 1, and a tank 8 heated by waste gases from the furnace. Vapours pass from the tank 8 through a preheater 16 for the oil supply and condenser 17. Superheated steam may be supplied by a pipe 24 into the heater. The tubes 4 of the heater may be fitted with corrugated cast-iron protective casings.
