Abstract

The present invention relates to a method of compensating errors upon sliver density control in textile machines provided with a controlled drafting field, particularly drawframes, in which said errors are originated by dissimilar conduct of the sliver to be drafted upon scanning its density, due to different withdrawing speed and/or degree of draft. The method consists in performing corrective interventions on the basis of the known course of the error originated by dissimilar conduct of the sliver to be drafted, said interventions corresponding as to their magnitude to the predetermined error and being introduced with opposite polarity into the control system. The device for performing this method consists in interposing one function converter 7 between the measuring instrument 6 for the withdrawing speed of the sliver and the actual control system 5, and another function converter 9 between the measuring instrument 8 for the degree of draft and the actual control system 5. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Method of and Device for Compensating Errors in Sliver Density Control in Textile Machines The present invention relates to a method of compensating errors in sliver density control in textile machines which are provided with a drafting field which is controlled, particularly in drawframes, in which said errors are originated by dissimilar conduct of the drafted sliver upon scanning its density, due to different withdrawing speed and/or degree of draft.
Furthermore, the present invention relates to a device for performing the said method, said device comprising a measuring instrument for the withdrawing speed of the sliver and a measuring instrument for the degree of draft.
The hitherto existing device for measuring the mass of a bundle of textile fibres, a sliver density sensor, does not make it possible to obtain the absolutely correct value of the measured quantity upon varying a parameter, i.e. the operation speed, or upon a change in the properties of the material to be measured, e.g. the degree of draft.
The consequence of this phenomenon upon controlling the mass of a bundle of textile fibres is an error, which is measurable by e.g. the gravimetric method. This error can amount up to several per cent.
The purposes of the present invention consists in forming a method of compensating the error upon controlling the sliver density, and a device for automatic compensation of this error in the course of the controlling process.
The method according to the present invention is characterised in that method of compensating errors upon sliver density control in textile machines which are provided with a controlled drafting field, particularly in drawframes, said errors being originated by dissimilar conduct of the sliver to be drafted upon sensing its density, due to a change of the withdrawing speed of the sliver and/or the degree of draft, characterised in that on the basis of a known course of error (S), originated by dissimilar conduct of the sliver to be drafted, corrective interventions are performed which correspond, as to their magnitude, to the error (S) which was determined, and which are applied with opposite polarity to a control system of the machine.
The present invention also provides a device comprising a measuring instrument for the withdrawing speed of the sliver and a measuring instrument for the draft, characterised in that a function converter with a preset course of error (Sv) caused by a change of the withdrawing speed (v5) is interposed between the measuring instrument for the withdrawing speed (v5) of sliver and the actual control system and function converter (9) with a preset course of error (sup) caused by changing the draft is interposed between the measuring instrument for the degree of draft.
The advantage of the present invention consists in a more accurate control.
Further advantages and features of both the method and the device according to the present invention follow from the following description of an exemplary embodiment of a device operating in accordance with the method according to the present invention and shown diagrammatically in the accompanying drawing.
The control drafting device 1 comprises at least two pairs of drafting rollers 2. Behind, in the direction of movement of the drafted sliver 3, a silver density sensor 4 is mounted, the output of the sensor 4 being connected to the input 51 of control system 5. A comparative signal Uw, which indicates the required magnitude of sliver density is fed to input 52 of control system 5. The output 55 of control system 5 is connected to the control drafting device 1.
A measuring instrument for the withdrawing speed of sliver 3, e.g. a tachometer 6, is attached to the sliver density sensor 4, the output of said tachometer 6 being interconnected with the input of a function converter 7 with a preset error function dv caused by changing of the withdrawing speed v8 of sliver 3. The output of function converter 7 is connected to the input 53 of control system 5.
A measuring instrument for the degree of draft is attached to the control drafting device 1, said instrument being e.g. a tachometer 8, sensing the variable speed of rotation of one pair of drafting rollers 2 of the control drafting field. The output of the tachometer 8 is connected to the input of a function converter 9 with a preset error function dp, caused by changing the degree of draft of sliver 3. The output of action converter 9 is connected to the input 54 of control system 5.
A variable draft is achieved in the control drafting device 1 by changing the speed of rotation of one pair of drafting rollers 2 relative to the constant speed of rotation of another pair of drafting rollers 2. The signal UTP of tachometer 8, which senses the speed of rotation of one pair of drafting rollers 2, thus represents the dimension of degree of draft of sliver 3. The signal UTp is fed to the function converter 9, in which the course of error Ap, which is caused by changing the degree of draft of sliver 3, is preset. At the output of function converter 9, a signal is generated which corresponds, as to its magnitude, to error Ap for the given textile material upon measured change of degree of draft of sliver 3, but is of opposite polarity, said signal being fed into control system 5 as corrective intervention. The course of function Spf(UTp) is selected by the operator for each type of textile material on the basis of empirical testing, which is obtained upon investigation of the error due to change of draft, e.g. by the gravimetric method.
A change of the withdrawing speed v9 of sliver 3 is sensed by tachometer 6. The signal Utv, which corresponds to a change of the withdrawing speed v5, is fed to function converter 7, in which the course of error Av, which is caused by changing the withdrawing speed v, of silver 3, is preset. The course of function Av=f(UTv) is selected by the operator on the basis of empirical testing, which is obtained upon investigation of the error due to change of the withdrawing speed V5 of sliver 3, e.g. by the gravimetric method. At the output of function converter 7, a signal of opposite polarity is obtained which corresponds, as to its magnitude, to error Av for the given textile material and the determined change of the withdrawing speed v5, and which is introduced, as a corrective intervention, into control system 5.
In control system 5, the required density value of sliver 3 which is represented by comparative signal Uw is compared to the density value of sliver 3, which is obtained by the sliver density sensor 4, and which is charged with errors Sp and do due to changing the draft and the withdrawing speed v9 of sliver 3, said value being represented by signal Us+8p+8v and corrective interventions Ap and -S,. The result of this comparison is a corrected action intervention Y, which is provided at the output 55 of control system 5 and which is introduced into the control drafting device 1.
